A government that has no problem gleefully ordering its military to commit war crimes has no problem committing crimes against its own people. A military that gleefully commits crimes to please their Hesperidium Master would have no problem committing crimes against its own people.

He can't stay awake. Or walk. Or speak. I'm so sick of the GOP denial. The embarrassing flattery parades. The complicit press standing silent while he drones on incomprehensibly or insults colleagues who dare to question his lies. Or laughing obligatorily at his non-jokes. I'm just so tired of it.

I do in fact stay awake at night sometimes thinking about how the MAGA ghouls are destroying actually-essential counterterrorism efforts in favor of directing resources towards brutalizing elderly taco truck workers
NEW: Oregon could lose nearly $18 million worth of terrorism prevention and emergency funding.

In the past, the money has paid for bomb detectors, law enforcement training and barriers that prevent cars from plowing into crowds.

A quiet battle has played out in court over money that “sanctuary” states say is needed to fight true extremist threats from both ends of the political spectrum.

This young woman has lived in America since she was 7.

On her way to visit family for Thanksgiving, she was abruptly detained, shackled, and deported to Honduras. It's not even clear if she had a deportation order.

This isn't going after criminals. It makes no one safer.

"Taking out the survivors" is the definition of a war crime.
Markwayne Mullin defends Hegseth: "If there was a second strike, it wouldn't be to just simply take out the survivors. It's because there was still a threat or opportunity for them to run."

This is my "Dutch Auction" theory of authoritarianism.

It's no coincidence, for example, that the Wannsee Conference, where the Nazi top leadership signed off on the Final Solution, took place just after the military tide turned outside Moscow, and the U.S. declared war on Germany.
The most dangerous moment in every authoritarian regime is when it realizes that its power has crested and is now falling. This is when they realize that if they are to achieve their maximalist ambitions, now they have to throw the dice — because no matter how bad the odds, their odds are best now.

He maimed our heritage to his narcissistic, tasteless image.

Generations will learn that he was the pathetic, racist con man who deformed our White House in 2025, and that it had to be restored after he left.

If you have to get your syllabus approved by an apparatchik before you can teach a class, you're not a university anymore you're a regime indoctrination center.
TX Tech has a flow chat for guidance on what can be taught in the university system. Two things:
1. Very little content seems to be permitted. This is partisan control of the curriculum.
2. I would not enjoy teaching under these conditions, but I really would not want to be a Chair or Dean.
