Y'know, I'm just one person.
I know my limitations.

But there are days when I remember that just one person CAN make a difference.

Just one kind word.
Just one moment of authenticity.

So, loves, never worry about being small.
Small is MIGHTY.

And small things can change a life.
Even save it. ♥️♥️
Every time an obvious bot follows me and BlueSky presents the "Follow Back" button, my brain starts singing:

🎶 I ain't no follow back girl 🎶

Ala Gwen Stefani.

Yes... I know I’m weird.
But thought I'd share the levity.

We all need a little tonight. ♥️♥️

can we all agree to take it easy on ourselves tomorrow?

we are humans with hearts and souls and it's unnatural to soldier on as if we're unaffected
we are not meant to endure this much horrific news in a lifetime let alone a weekend

I don’t know how to process the horrific fire hose of tragedy that has been omnipresent but has spiked this weekend, and I suspect I’m not alone. We aren’t meant to carry this much suffering and be able to function at “normal” capacity. Be gentle with yourself and others, if you can.

He's also responsible for raising all the money that paid for bringing Hollingsworth v. Perry & even more importantly Bostic v. Schaefer, which created the circuit split that forced SCOTUS to take on Obergefell v. Hodges. The role he played in American marriage equality cannot be overstated.
The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.

Its product has never been more critically or financially successful. Why is it auctioning itself off?

Outside, it feels like 12 degrees.

The house needs insulation, badly, so it's bloody cold inside despite the heater trying in vain to keep up.

So, I have an 8-year-old in my bed early, woken by the cold.

And I didn't tell her all the horrors. Too many horrors.

Let one of us sleep well tonight. ♥️

Rob Reiner was one of the key people behind the effort to go to court to overturn California's anti-marriage equality Proposition 8 when it passed in 2008.

Working with Chad Griffin, they founded the American Foundation for Equal Rights and got Ted Olson and David Boies to team up to fight Prop 8.

I’m just going to tell the story. Back in 2000 I was volunteering for the Gore campaign when he came along with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Alfre Woodard and Dule Hill to a GOTV event here in MN. He ended up sitting down across from me stuffing his envelopes.

Heartbreaking.
May their memories be a blessing.

God, this sucks.
Rob Reiner, who directed such beloved Hollywood classics as 'This Is Spinal Tap,' 'Stand by Me' and 'When Harry Met Sally' after starring in the trailblazing sitcom 'All in the Family,' died Sunday along with his wife, Michele, in their Brentwood home. bit.ly/48UWXSi

This is important—much as I wish something involving this man wasn't.

God, I really hate this timeline.

This is fucking grim. Somebody invented a white guy, an "IT professional" named Edward Crabtree, who stopped the Bondi shooting and spread it all over the internet, which was picked up by AI agents and slop aggregation sites.

The real hero is a fruit stand owner named Ahmed el Ahmed.

So we have two immigrant heroes. One in Australia who helped disarm one of the shooters and one in the US who helped track down the Brown U shooter. When a man stabbed several people in the UK, it was also an immigrant who disarmed him.

Weird that the Far Right keeps vilifying immigrants.

Timeline Cleanse.

- This weekend I took the kids to a theme park SOLO (thanks, Dad, for the tickets) and they were AMAZING.

- I cooked Butternut Squash Soup, Pumpkin Chili, AND a Spanish Tortilla today.

- My kids were all asleep by 9PM.

Just a little light.
May you find yours tonight. ♥️♥️

The ACA isn't just "health care for people who don't have a conventional employer." It also disallows something that was incredibly common 20 years ago, which I fear is getting lost to generational memory: insurance companies could deny you health care for essentially any previous health problem.
I'm dubious about Amazon's commitment to keeping pre-existing conditions a thing of the past.

Elon's little serfs are quite literally begging journalists to come back because every publicly available source of data shows people have fled the platform and young people won't use it.

They are literally begging regular people to come back. Don't do it! It is a website by and for actual Nazis!

Steve isn’t here anymore, but he always posted this picture on Hanukkah so I thought we could carry on his tradition and remember him.
Happy Hanukkah to our friends who celebrate. Rachel Posner, a rabbi’s wife in Kiel, Germany, took this photograph in 1931 -- a potent reminder that fascism must be fought in every generation, even if it's wrapped in an American flag and a red hat.

FINALLY.

For YEARS I followed my dad's recipe, not knowing why my tortillas NEVER stayed together.

Now, he has a habit of leaving things out of recipes he gives me. It just never occurred to me he left out the PAN.

Nonstick pan.
I never knew!

Mmm. Tastes like victory!
