I always burn my mouth on food out of the oven, I have not yet learned to wait for it to cool down a bit

A quick look at recipe sites seems to suggest dried fruit is common but also sometimes nuts and/or oats with butter and cinnamon

You can stuff them with whatever you like really. I can't think of anything else because I never do anything else

I wish - no, the women's one day cricket world cup is happening in India and Sri Lanka and today's match between England and Pakistan was in Colombo but ended up rained off so resulted in a draw (which was good for England but bad for Pakistan and unbiased lovers of the game)

Anyway, baked apples a la mum:
Screenshot from whatsapp:

Me: I don't think granny wrote down her baked apple recipe but this is what you do:
Me: preheat oven to 160°C (fan)
Me: wash and core cooking apples and score the skin around the equator
Me: put them in an ovenproof dish
Me: stuff the cores with dried fruit of your choice
Me: (we usually used sultanas or raisins)
Me: optional: sprinkle with sugar
Me: pour some orange juice over so it pools in the disg
Me: dish
My niece: thank you
Me: bake for approx 45 mins
Me: depends on the size of the apple though
Me: you can fancy it up with spices in the filling or change the liquid you add A screenshot from whatsapp continuing from the previous image
Me: if you don't have juice a couple of spoons of water will do
My niece: would apple juice work?
Me: yes
My niece: kk thxs so much

The joy of sisters is she has to listen to me explain cricket and I have to listen to her explain rugby

Of course I have burned all the skin off the roof of my mouth but it was pretty tasty and since both sister and father are potato fiends the excess in that area was easily demolished

And since my sister had come round for supper and we had vegetables on the turn I decided to make vegan hotpot which I haven't made in forever so I accidentally got my sister to mandoline too much potato, but by the time it was ready I had woken up somewhat

Okay so I sat down and then my niece texted to ask for a recipe for something mum used to make so I went to look but there was no recipe so I just had to remember how to do it and then it started raining again in Colombo

WHEN THERE’S NO TREASURE BEHIND THE WATERFALL: Wow. Too stuck-up to put treasure there huh? Too much of a fucking ICONOCLAST for that? Piece of shit. FUCK you

My sister, every time we go somewhere: oh, I was going to bring my leaf identifier, I forgot

Me: never again! Pin it to your coat or bag!

Harsh! (Footnote in The Lancet, May 18 1839.)
Footnote in a medical journal which reads:

* We wish the author had paid more attention to style, for his sentences are often so complicated as almost completely to obscure their meaning.

Had to buy it before I rt-ed it in case it sold out

I'm so proud to announce my most ambitious pin to date: a miniature guide to the trees of Britain (and lots of Europe)!

Available now from my Etsy: canopyrobin.etsy.com/listing/4386...
A rectangular enamel pin with two hinges on the left hand side. It looks like a book and has a picture of a tree on the front. The book is titled: Trees, a miniature guidebook. An open version of the pin shows assorted leaf shapes on the pages of the book. The leaves are labelled by species as oak, horse chestnut, sycamore, hawthorn, ash, alder, hazel, holly, lime, beech, and birch

I'm too tired, everything is confusing me
rachelish.bsky.social
My brain is far to tired to understand an explanation but if I were more conscious I would love an explanation of why Pakistan only need to get 113 off 31 when England only batted 31 overs and got more than that? Feels mad

Ooops the stars aligned (or misaligned) and I'm opening commissions for custom ceramics! Would you like a loaf tray of your pet? A babushcat? For me to remake a piece I made in the past that you missed out on? Or do you have a different idea? Email me and we can discuss it!
