Every time I heard Rob Reiner interviewed, he always seemed like the most decent man. He gave us The Princess Bride, Stand by Me, and When Harry Met Sally. He fought for our rights, our children and our democracy. He lived: big, out loud and with so much heart. May his memory be a blessing.

This year, J is ensuring that young Jewish women's voice are being amplified. I could not be prouder.

Pantone describes this as “a billowy, balanced white imbued with a feeling of serenity.”

I think it's the color of surrender.

I wrote about Benjamin Netanyahu's attempt to call off his own corruption trial, which is really the story of how one incredibly compromised man has repeatedly sacrificed his country's national interest and its people's preferences rather than cede power. Gift link:
Netanyahu Just Admitted He’s Unfit to Lead Israel
In attempting to call off his corruption trial, Netanyahu didn’t incriminate himself, but he did something just as damning.

What does it say about this country that that the kind of open, rank bigotry Trump administration officials regularly express towards black immigrants apparently has no social cost because of the number of Americans who quietly agree or don't care.

Remember: Almost all of us are the descendants of immigrants who fled persecution, or were brought to America under duress, or sought better lives for themselves and their descendants.

Politicians who stoke fear and hatred over immigration want you to forget this.

Do not.

LFG, Alabama!
So I’ve made it official folks: I’ve filed the paperwork to run for Governor of Alabama. It’s time to remind this state of who we are and what we can accomplish together.

J and I heard the glorious Michelle Obama speak with Wesley Morris about her new book, The Look, at @sixthandi tonight. I broke when she shared about being mindful of the importance of kids seeing themselves represented in the White House and about bringing joy - JOY - to the East Wing. #StillTeary

No idea if this is the case here, but a city council member in my suburb said that our many vacant downtown storefronts were due to a tax law that allows landlords to write off losses from vacant properties, so if they don't get the rent they want, they can make more money by letting it sit empty.
Call in the troops to solve the commercial real estate crisis in our swanky downtown cores

Remember having a president who understood he was a PUBLIC SERVANT? Me too. Miss that. #SoFuckingGreatAgain
Obama: When I think back to a year ago, I remember talking to some people, who would say, this election doesn't matter all that much. That however the next president ended up being, it wasn't going to matter to them. If nothing else, the last nine months should have cured us of that idea.
