Support your local bookstore. They're still selling queer books while big stores are quietly removing us from the shelves.

Can’t stop thinking about this. The Trump administration is essentially extorting hospitals into dropping gender-affirming care—without Medicare or Medicaid they’d go bankrupt. It’s akin to a backdoor ban even for people with private insurance, a proposal that wouldn’t pass Congress.
Under the proposed rule issued by the Trump Administration today, any Medicare- or Medicaid-participating hospital would be barred from providing gender-affirming care to *any child*, even if the care is not paid for by Medicare or Medicaid.

The Department of Health and Human Services has proposed a new set of rules attempting to ban gender-affirming care for transgender youth nationwide.

Take action and tell HHS: No bans on gender-affirming care.

This morning I got locked out of my apartment for silly reasons and like 3 people who love me and 2 people who are nice bystanders were all yelling at me about hypothermia

Which, I know! I didn’t do it on purpose! But it was very kind nonetheless

Missing the highly anticipated family dinner tomorrow because I’m sick (cold virus still the most likely culprit) is such a bummer. But food basically turns to sand in my mouth right now so it’s slightly less of a bummer as it would be if I wasn’t also afflicted with the food tastes bad curse

Vacation started a day early, but because I’m sick

Tests (for things I’m vaccinated against) are coming back negative so far, and no sign of fever, so just a regular cold is the prevailing hypothesis right now. I’m mostly going to be playing Blue Prince this week I guess

I went to the mall today and I saw that a PLAIN Auntie Anne’s pretzel is now $6.09 (I almost bought it anyway because the heart wants what the heart wants, but there was also a 15-20 minute wait so no)

Do they think they’re in a disney park and not a half dead mall in Michigan? Yeesh

Ok I accidentally discovered why I was underwhelmed and confused by the sugar cookies I baked for a work Halloween thing, not hating them but remembering the recipe turning out very different last time

I have a second recipe titled “the actually good sugar cookie recipe” further in the notebook

Well I called to schedule the echocardiogram my dad’s surgeon urged me to get and they are fitting me in on Friday morning. This isn’t even urgent and everyone is taking it very seriously, which is great, but it also makes for a stressful week of hospital visits

For the like 2ish people following me who know my dad: he’s being scheduled for heart surgery in January, his heart is about 2x enlarged from his mitral valve failing. They’re going to put a ring in, + also in his tricuspid valve if necessary. Prognosis is good (~1mo recovery) w/ surgery and bad w/o

Dealing with insurance is like: Your medication is approved! Just kidding no it’s not. Um, why haven’t you picked up the medicine? Come get it right now. Why are you trying to get this it’s not approved? I know you don’t need this medicine for 2 months but come get it now or else. 🫣

I have to bring something to a Halloween potluck for work and I don’t really have any spooky cookie cutters for the sugar cookies I wanted to bake so I was going to use a gingerbread man and be like “this cookie represents the real horror- man’s inhumanity to man”

My dad let us know today that he has to have cardiac surgery for a mitral valve prolapse. He’s at home and not sure whether it’s going to be open heart surgery or robotic at this point yet but the next appointment with the cardiologist is in a couple of weeks
