this post is good. my favorite guy online is the one who learns everything from the smartest (richest) geniuses (billionaires) in the world and thus thinks venus is easier to colonize than the moon, space is cold, and (of course) the richer you are the smarter you are
Just because it's being passed around a lot: NO, data centers in space do NOT benefit from space being cold. Space is cold in the formal sense we use to define temperature. But it is very bad at cooling. What would you rather have to cool hot metal: a lukewarm water tub or a giant cold atmosphere?

the "discord is taking your data for this" thing is completely wild because, uh, you know that interacting with discord is literally 100% giving them your data? it's a chat service on a central server, they need your data to even function on a basic level, inherently. it's good to be mad in general,

correcting old sayings that are no longer reflective of society is fine. "blood is thicker than water" is rich when people are getting kicked out of their house for who they are. but you don't have to pretend the saying was *always* something more appropriate to modern times. that's silly

i know if it seems like it suddenly popped up from nowhere it's reasonable to say that "calling it AI is a marketing gimmick" but, like, the actual research that went into this stuff for >50 years has, in fact, been called "AI" the whole time? this is another "please focus on the real problems" post

i'm not sure why my meds have the same order-of-magnitude cost-per-mass as platinum but they sure do (i just paid $400 more than I expected to today)

the US has 3x as many people in it as it did in 1929, when it was decided that there would be exactly 435 seats in the house of representatives. why haven't we increased the number of seats? unironically this is one of the least democratic things we seem to have just accepted as Fact

Price and Quality have nothing to with each other and the idea that "Gamers" are gonna expect every game to be as good as Silksong is pretty weird, do you honestly think people who have played dozens if not hundreds of games seriously think every game has to be of the same quality to price ratio ?
