and i genuinely hated it when i first played it, because I bounced off the junction system. Not only did I learn to love and appreciate that system, but the story was buried underneath it. I do love how junctioning is different from just levelling up, because the game is about changing destiny.

But the story is so simple, and so well executed, and while it got a little muddied for people at the end, the end end works so well and made me feel amazing.

I have beaten Final Fantasy 8. I had no idea I would love it as much as I did, wow.

I think in time it will become my favourite in the series, in the same way that The Tera Melos is one of my favourite bands -- it is in its ambition that I fall in love, not necessarily in how clean it works.
