It is nearly the end of January and I have carved just one letter this year. So here are some blasts from the past. Why just 1? Well, we're preparing to downsize, plus family stuff, plus committments, y'know. Normal service will be resumed asap. Requirements for the new house include a huge shed 👍

And today it is above £2,350 / kg. Why? Cos the markets believe the USD is in trouble & they want something tangible. If the $ collapses, maybe then Senators will grow a spine and depose their gold plated king and the world of silversmithing can get a break (along with everyone everywhere else).
When I started as a silversmith, silver was £100 per kilo on the spot market. When I stopped in 2010 it was £900. My raw material had gone up 9-fold at a time when the economy was sunk. It is now £1900. Silversmithing is dead in the water ☹️
