Rewatched Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) for the first time in a while and I think it may be a perfect movie. Sweaty atmospheric malevolence from beginning to end. Impeccable sound and editing. The most hideous set design in history. Provides exactly what it promises. An evil classic all around.

A Sundog over the Bay of Syracuse. This is where the great genius Archimedes and the Syracusians held off the Romans in 214 BC, using the Claw of Archimedes and a mirrored “sun ray,” which caught the attackers boats on fire. After several years of siege, they succumbed and were killed or enslaved.

Poor guy. All that lying and demonizing of the disenfranchised while undermining democracy has got to be thankless, exhausting work. My heart goes out to him.

I’m loving all the press for the new EWS release. I saw it first run in the theaters, and while I was puzzled a bit, I loved it. I also anticipated that, like SK’s other films, it would be critically reviled until people finally, eventually, “got it.”

Agrigento is pretty nuts. It took 30,000 Carthaginian slaves to construct the entire massive compound back in 500 BC. But the ever-mercurial Sicilian sky stubbornly refuses to overshadowed by anything. #sicily #magnagrecia

Me: I’m a trickster. That’s my archetype in life.

My kid: But Jesus Christ, you’ve only got one trick.

Me: Yeah, but it’s a good trick.

So, of trans children starting HRT, more than 98% stay on it, and of the small fraction that don't, over half identify as nonbinary. Less than 1% go “nah, turns out I'm cis.” From an N of four fucking hundred. Why the hell are we making children run a gauntlet? Some asshole's political career?
A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... & of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Trans care saves lives.

The phrase "trans activist" is goofy because like 95% of the time it's used it refers to a trans person simply existing.

Media, pointing at a woman buying a coffee: behold, a trans activist.

Woman: buying coffee is not activism stop being so fucking weird

Media: trans activist criticizes media

One last thing: If AOC runs against Schumer, she will win.

Democrats need to make a hard left turn.

Mamdani has proven it is time.

The people of the United States are ready for politicians who will not just say they'lll fight for them, but will actually do so once elected.
