🌎Boxing claim that the SRY gene is a reliable indicator for determining biological sex & sports advantage. There is no scientific evidence linking this gene & or endogenous T to athletic performance.

Even the discoverer of the SRY gene admits it cannot be used to determine biological sex.

Anyone that thinks @WorldAthletics sex testing is simple, I suggest go talk to @MightyCaster

To evaluate the effects of involves measuring & palpating the clitoris, vagina & labia, as well as evaluating breast size & pubic hair scored on an illustrated 5-grade scale.

Religious schools in Australia both Christian and Muslim - can reject gay & trans students & staff as an abomination.

These publicly funded schools are free to be bigots.

I don't want my taxes subsidising that bigotry. Cut 'em off @AlboMP????

If religious schools can refuse to employ gay teachers, it’s only fair the 2,336 religious chaplains funded by the Commonwealth Gov in public schools should get sacked.

Public schools need the best counsellors and not the best religious counsellors.

It appears that politicians should display their sponsorships on their attire, akin to sponsored sports teams, thereby ensuring transparency regarding their affiliations.

The age profile of each major party tells the Australian story:

•Greens median age: early 30s

•Lab: early 40s

•Coalition: mid 50s

•One Nation: early 60s

Every electoral cycle, around 700,000 younger voters join the roll, while older voters, predominantly Baby Boomers, leave it.

Australia has the solutiona to reduce crime, reduce domestic violence and reduce incarceration rates.

The state and federal governments just have to finance them.

For example housing a homeless person actually saves tax payers money, and it makes the community safer!
kirstimiller30.bsky.social
Incarceration rates are universally linked to poverty. It's not surprising that trans people are overrepresented in criminal justice systems across Western nations. This is a pattern similar to the carceral overrepresentation of other minority groups.

Building more prisons for 230+ years has resulted in Australia’s First Nations People to be the most incarcerated Indigenous Community on this Planet with a life expectancy a full decade less than white 🇦🇺 Sadly #Budget2025 fails to address this Australian tragedy.

End~
kirstimiller30.bsky.social
Australia cannot afford the social, health and economic costs of over-imprisonment. Strong, healthy & connected communities are the most effective way to prevent crime & make communities safer, it’s not fucking rocket science.
kirstimiller30.bsky.social
The solutions to reduce imprisonment & close the gap will never be found in any of the 5 prisons I managed or any private or public prison. The solutions need to be community-designed and driven, with government support.
kirstimiller30.bsky.social
Instead, increasing poverty rates and drug addiction, higher reporting rates, stricter policing practices, tougher sentencing laws, and more stringent bail laws appear to be the main drivers of Australia’s record levels of prison population.
kirstimiller30.bsky.social
As stated above, the record increase in the Australian prison population does not seem to be due to crime rates, which have mostly declined over the past generation.
kirstimiller30.bsky.social
Governments in Australia continue to lavish resources on incarceration despite empirical research that re-offending is better addressed by rehabilitation programs, education and vocational training, stable housing, and employment.
kirstimiller30.bsky.social
With this comes vast costs to taxpayers. It makes it harder for corrective services to meet basic human needs of healthcare, food and suitable accommodation.
kirstimiller30.bsky.social
Our Australian prisons are overcrowded. Overcrowding threatens the effectiveness of rehabilitation, vocational and educational programs, and is associated with higher rates of violence and mental health problems.
kirstimiller30.bsky.social
Australia has returned to mass incarceration. As crime rates have fallen, we now incarcerate a greater share of the adult population than at any point since the late 19th century the convict days.
kirstimiller30.bsky.social
The Aboriginal Imprisonment rates personifies government funding priorities across Aust that have criminalised the consequences of poverty & failed to address the causes of offending. This is why our prisons presently warehouse drug addicte, Aboriginal men, women & children & the mentally ill.
kirstimiller30.bsky.social
We have to break the cycle of poverty, unemployment and incarceration they are all linked to disadvantage. The more disadvantaged the more crime, the more people locked up it’s the revolving door syndrome.

No jurisdiction in Australia – not even the ACT – gaols black males at a rate less than the days of Apartheid South Africa.
