Get their asses, Kath!

Also, really important point tying this to their rhetoric against Mamdani, which is just as abhorrent.

Q: Politico reported on a group chat of young Republicans. Does this just reflect some bad apples?

HOCHUL: Some bad apples? These are the future of the GOP. This is so vile it's hard to find the words to put into context ... there's gotta be consequences ... this bullshit has to stop.

1) Boston is the safest big city in the US; 2) the stadium is an hour away in the even safer Foxboro; and 3) not up to you, dude!

Say, isn’t there a prominent elected official who everyone knows (but no one reported on) was in group chats and Twitter DMs with younger Republicans?

POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

Truly terrible news. One of the actually legendary voices of my lifetime, and maybe the only artist I can think of who exclusively has "no skip" albums.

D’Angelo was one of the most widely revered artists of the past 30 years.

He began his career as a songwriter for other artists, but quickly asserted himself as a solo star with his 1995 debut 'Brown Sugar.'

It seems especially pretty odd in the Maine case given that 1) in my experience, Mainers generally do what they want and don't listen to folks From Away and 2) it's not like Mills is being imposed upon them - she's a popular 2 term governor. I understand the age concerns, but the voters do too?

My boss at USAID in particular was really good at sharing articles that she thought were pretty insightful with members of the bureau (particularly from local journalists on the ground not just Westerners) but I think she was pretty unusual as a leader.
pmeyers7.bsky.social
YMMV but in my experience as an appointee, it really just depended on who you worked for (and what kind of a thinker they were). I briefed senior WH and USAID folks pretty regularly, and it was pretty clear they had read (and engaged with) the full memos I had written by the questions they asked.

I still remember meeting a friend for a beer at Garden District on a Friday night this summer and spotting group of 5 NG troops every other block on 14th St for literally no reason.

I think there's also a certain memoryholing of what was going in 2021 as well. Like, we weren't physically able to work in EEOB until July 2021 because of Covid and that was the primary focus of the work at the time (Covid response).

A few critiques as a former campaign person: 1) All of the Trump officials calling it "No Kings" is a messaging fail, because it adopts our framing (and the inverse being "you have to have a king to get paid" is awful) and 2) a 2 wk shutdown being caused by a protest next week is way too complicated

What the Twitter takeover did so effectively was fracture the way we get our news. If, for example, I want to get in-depth updates on Sudan I still check in with Twitter as that's where a lot of the biggest accounts are. There's no one-stop shop anymore.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

Given the amount of members of House GOP leadership pushing this same message today, I guess a new comms memo must have gone out. Tells you how scared they are of huge popular protests!

Sen. Roger Marshall: "October 18 is when the protest gets here. This will be a Soros paid-for protest for his professional protesters. The agitators show up. We'll have to get the National Guard out. Hopefully it will be peaceful. I doubt it."

So it sounds like Miller basically has created a task force (directed by him) to go after liberal groups because they're the political opposition? Sure sounds like something we've seen in Russia, Hungary, et al!

There's no reason this shouldn't still be a NYT front page story - it would be in a Democratic administration if they platformed someone with Posobiec's background.

Dizzying how some of the biggest doofuses who skulked around the most feverish, fetid corners of the internet now whisper in the ears of the people who run the government.

Ten years ago, Posobiec was an Infowars clown who was throwing out 1488s and parenthesizing Jews on Twitter.
