I’m sharing a Palestinian account every day and today is Ruba. Ruba is 23 and has been studying to be a pharmacist. She has been living in tents with her family since this all began and her home was destroyed, this includes her niece Tulin, 8 her nephew, Mohammed, 4 and her father who is ill.

The original example in point, The Courtship of Princess Leia is one of the most, "Hey, you guys wanna do whatever?" feeling-ass books in the whole damn thing.

It's so important to keep the "non-consensual" part of generative AI front and center.
disabilitystor1.bsky.social
I don't know how many times to point out that is absolutely ghoulish and non-consensual and disgusting behavior.
To exploit the image of a dead woman who was also exploited in real life so you can live out your momentary fantasies of "what is possible" with AI is bad science journalism, also.
Sick.

Marilyn Monroe in Game of Thrones? AI Could Make It Happen Soon

Despite early, and familiar, copyright growing pains, Sora may be the prelude to AI-generated on-demand TV and movies

Screenshot includes an AI generated image of what looks like a human cross between Daenaerys Targaryen and Marilyn Monroe on the back of a dragon.

The absolute best stuff from this dumb franchise is when you're watching, reading, or playing something and it FEELS like they've said to a writer, "Hey, you wanna just do whatever?" I know that isn't really what happened, but the trick is for it to feel like it.

I think I could make a very convincing argument that an EU/Legends ‘romance’ novel (The Courtship of Princess Leia) has had the most dramatic impact on modern Star Wars canon than any comparable piece of media. Similarly ‘Lost Stars’ is a bonafide classic of current canon.

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.

Lmao is this supposed to be a bad thing?

Today in @TheFP our @Olivia_Reingold talks to the cops who say they will walk if Zohran Mamdani is elected in November:”

Even more annoying is that the original poster is using the LLM to “wade through a mountain of papers for a systemic review”. Which means feeding a lot of academic material into the plagiarism machine that always lies, without the consent of the authors.

- released Palestinian prisoner
Palestinian prisoner Shadi Abu Seed has given a harrowing account of life inside an Israeli prison after his release as part of the ceasefire deal.

“I went hungry for the past two years. I swear to God, they didn’t feed us. They kept us naked. They beat us while we were naked day and night. We were tortured,” Abu Seed said.

“Until our last day in Israeli prison, they cut us and hit us and abused us. We endured every kind of torture, emotional and physical.

“We couldn’t even sleep. They threatened us with our children. They told me they killed my children. They told us that Gaza was destroyed. I arrived here and found that everything was gone. It looked like the end of the world. Everything is different.”

One single data centre. The combined energy draw of both of our largest cities.

Utterly unreasonable that this could be signed off without an environmental check. What about the impact on our energy prices?

The investors should have to fund the clean energy needed.

One of my favorite little details in DS9 is that Ben Sisko's Dad runs a restaurant, in a world full of replicators, in which no one has to work for money to survive. Why? Because that is what he wants to do. It's simple, but it is one of the most optimistic things about Star Trek.

I know it’s the most obvious thing in the world but it’s really sad that so many people have absolutely no desires or dreams in life except to accumulate money and our entire world is becoming a fucking pit because of it
