Started implementing spell mutators today! Mutators are extra effects that can change the way a spell works. It can be subtle, or not so subtle.

Today let's demonstrate modifying the Cone spell to utilize the "Prismatic" mutator, which will randomize the element of each shot!

I'm showing off a little bit more than I probably should right now.. But here's the main cast for a SHMUP I'm beginning earnest work on! I look forward to posting gameplay within the next few months. <3

Meet Mio, Beryll, and Alya!

Hell yeah. Whole system now 100% functional.

The capture rate UI needs final art, and later I'd like to make MODs have a rarity value, but yeah, you can knock an enemy down and take their limbs!

I'm gonna go finally play some Silk Song.

The nod of respect through ages when you realise ‘I want the mechanic to feel like game X’ is often achieved by putting in a round number, or the simplest possible shape of code. Feeling in that moment the reality that all games are made by a somewhat frazzled person just trying to get it to work.
haven't had cause to post updates about the game right now since the work is proceeding but it is rather boring. coincidentally, here is footage of me working
Legit I’d love to show you the ropes!!! I also happen to find it super fun to teach people because I always end up learning new things, too!

check out how far I've gotten today designing stuff!!
I love them!! Super cool character designs :3
I wish to make my wizard arc official by taking on a gamedev apprentice 🧙

Wish that was more of a thing in games! I think it’s important that we don’t lose directly passing on knowledge to a quagmire of surface level YouTube videos and half baked Reddit posts…

Getting MEGA reviews on the Earth Must Die demo ahead of Next Fest

If anyone hasn't tried it yet, please do! When we get to 50 reviews we get an extra visibility boost, so every single review is unbelieveably huge to us at this point

These things are always such a mixed bag. I wish it was like Street Fighter III: Online Edition where you could choose versions per-track, so if you didn't like the arranged version of one stage theme, you could toggle it to use the original.

Every time I enter the loading screen for the Delian Tomb in the Draw Steel Codex, I lose myself in the artwork.

@hellomcdm.bsky.social have truly knocked it out of the park with this piece!
There’s a small bit of RNG that will slightly dictate your path through a given run, but what I love about it besides the atmosphere is how quickly you can beat the game if you know what you’re doing! The following games weren’t as good (but the chase themes all slap)
Have you ever played the original Clock Tower? It got a remaster on Switch recently. That’s my favorite horror game ever.

If you want something a little different, Sweet Home on NES is a horror JRPG by the OG Resident Evil devs.

Siren is a novel one for its unique camera system.

This rain effect is so good…are you using two different GPUParticle systems for the drops and splashes, respectively?
I got a little taste of packets when trying to write face tracking modules that receive values from an external camera and sending them to avatar blendshapes in a vtubing app (SnekStudio).

Definitely was a “imma fight networking” -> “damn, networking got hands” moment
Omg this is huge thank you
I remember learning how to make these in Blender using curve modifiers for an art nouveau-esque project once… somethin about the free flowing feel of it while also feeling out the organic patterns underpinning the process… they’re just the best
