Drop whatever you're doing and read this right away. It's delightful and highlarious.
It's almost Thanksgiving, so I decided to do a silly post on food and my adolescent obsession with cereal--not eating it; making it. substack.com/home/post/p-...

My weirdest traditional family Thanksgiving food is something called "mustard celery," which is just diced celery and onions mixed with mustard and sugar. It's horrible and delicious. We think it's from my German great-grandpa's side of the family? Does anyone else know this food?

We are now further away from the theatrical release of Raiders of the Lost Ark (June 12, 1981) than it was from the year it takes place in (1936). We have reached the Indiana Jones event horizon.

Bourbon chocolate pecan pie.

Crust isn’t the best but I think it will still taste better than store-bought.

This morning, my parents and I were drinking coffee and reading poetry to each other in front of their fireplace. A beautiful way to start the day.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

I had a bunch of these ReSearch books and loved them. Might have bought them at Forbidden Planet in NYC when it was across the street from where it is now. Maybe still have them at my parents house but I’m not sure.
And we can’t forget Industrial Culture Handbook from 1983 by Re/Search publications, and covers the early industrial music & art era. Fun stuff for weirdos. 😉

My wife who loves film and studied film and made movies rarely watches a movie for a second time, even one she adores. It's just not her style.

She has now seen a new movie THREE times in a month. ("Frankenstein" (2025))

Hollywood loves our trauma. Black actors are more likely to win awards when playing roles tied to slavery, servitude, or trauma.

Lupita Nyong’o opens up about what happened after her Oscar win. Hollywood kept offering her more parts as an enslaved woman, pushing the same stereotype again and again.

New York City helped my mother become the artist she is today. The next generation deserves a City Hall that lifts up tomorrow's artists as well.
