After being asked what if she is running against a Democrat: "Democratic voters won't vote for a Democrat who is courting Republican voters" easy answer. It's probably not true but it's way better than "I'm going to make sure I'm running against a Republican" and storming out.

“the constitution forbids race conscious remedies” would be news to the people who wrote the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments
mcpli.bsky.social
Griem goes there, arguing in response to Justice Jackson that there can be no race-conscious remedy absent a finding of intentional discrimination.

Naturally the divide here is between a governor whose foremost issue is an Esoteric Obamaist one (“muh left behind WWC labor union big doodz want tariff socialism”) and a governor whose foremost issue is a Resistance one (“yes the African Muslim is an American you provincial backward hicks”)

Here is the Vice President defending adults who said they love Hitler, want to rape their enemies, put their political opponents in gas chambers, and that Black people are monkeys. Just to name a few.

Are these those Christian values JD Vance talks about?

A good jumping off point is Strom Thurmond. He first elected to public office 1933, was a huge segregationist, defended Jim Crow, filibustered against the CRA, and served in the Senate until his death in 2003. Despite this (or maybe because of this) he volunteered at age 39 to fight the Nazis in WW2

(it was the white supremacist Jim Crow South)

Why don't you look up which part of the country was most excited to fight in ww2

Please find me one news article or video where someone called Mitt Romney Hitler.

At the risk of opening a YIMBY fault line, I think this plan is a bullshit techno-libertarian pipe dream with a thin urbanist veneer. It's dense sprawl, with NO current plans for public transit/rail connections, leaving residents at the mercy of private shuttles (at best) and taxpayers on the hook

Spent some time with the California Forever plans today and it's exciting. If they pull this off, I would absolutely consider moving. First off - they're really locking themselves into 30 du/acre, which is like triple San Francisco's (13 du/acre). That would be sick as hell.

Is there any sort of analysis for how much residential and commercial adoption it would need in order to be revenue positive?
penguinguy.bsky.social
I remember looking at the first version of this to try and see what sort of residential and commercial adoption they would need in order to be revenue positive, and I don't remember the specific number but it was completely laughable.

100 Meters: weird movie. weird rhythm, balance, pacing, etc. The use of rotoscoping for basically everything messes with the intuition of how rotoscoping is usually used for impactful moments and just kinda overloads the senses. Absolutely loved the shoes and fashion though.

So like this is funnier and more offensive than anything anyone else said about Kirk that got them fired

My mom, who I would describe as a typical former-Republican-turned-normie-liberal, who exclusively watches the various cable TV shows, has become very pro-Palestine and absolutely hates Netanyahu.

The amount of sun also matters. The same physical installation will get different amounts of power in AZ vs MA, and in AZ the generation peak matches both the daily and seasonal demand peak (midday summer), while it does not in MA (winter evening/night).

If you scroll up to the beginning of the thread, the actual charge I am defending it from is "no one should live in the desert"

Can you provide some actual numbers for why Phoenix is even below average sustainability? Household carbon emissions in Phoenix is below the national average, and will only go down as solar and battery capacity expands.
penguinguy.bsky.social
It's fine that you don't like AZ. I don't particularly like it either. But "we need population relocation from the 5th largest city in the US" is a bad position for so many reasons, such as the average household in Phoenix Arizona has lower carbon emissions than Boston Massachusetts.
penguinguy.bsky.social
The currently built adaptations for snow are not more sustainable than the adaptations for heat. Again, the average house in Phoenix Arizona has lower carbon emissions than Boston Massachusetts.
penguinguy.bsky.social
I don't think we should incentivize moving to Arizona. I think we should support the people already living there. Supporting the people already living there means expanding solar, battery, and grid capacity. Solar+battery is cheap enough that we can easily do this without neglecting other regions.
