This is the thing I keep trying to get through to people. Authorial meaning and intention is the fundamental underlying structure of writing, not “a world full of people who can say anything”. We live in a world full of people who can say anything! That’s not what we’re trying to achieve here!

AI dialogue in games is so stupid. If a studio hired 100 junior writers at fractional cents a word to write reams of mediocre and utterly meaningless dialogue for NPCs nobody would engage with that dialogue because it doesn't contribute anything. even if AI dialogue wasn't bad it'd be just like that

An easy way to explain luddites:

Textile manufacturers brought in machines that could do in an hour what would have taken 12 hours by hand.

And then, tried to keep paying the now 12x more productive workers the same wages as before.

That's it, that was the problem luddites had. Not complex.

La única forma que tenemos de parar esto es dejar de consumir, pagar y jugar todo videojuego que se sepa o note que ha usado IAgen. Y por supuesto señalarlo y criticarlo en todas partes, con reseña negativa en la tienda si se puede. Es lo único que nos queda.
SO... I'm pretty much done with Fortnite. There were statements made by Tim Sweeney saying that AI usage doesn't need to be disclosed, and then AI usage was found all over this current season- from art to sprays to in-game songs. Between that, and the upcoming shitty wizard collab... Yeah, I'm done.

We *really* need to actively differentiate Machine Learning from GenAI. GenAI is riding the Machine Learning coattails and risks destroying an incredibly useful innovation by conflating it with absolute slop that codes decently.
We could save soooo many lives but people are so caught up in their reactionary moral panic nonsense
