Increasingly ticked-off Canadian. Straight but not narrow. Fascinated by astronomy, music, and our canine companions. Unhealthily obsessed with the Chicago Cubs. Pro Oxford Comma. He/him.
Howard also employed the great Canadian poet, George Elliott Clarke, in his Parliament Hill office.
Howard McCurdy was a civil rights activist, a groundbreaking biologist, a Member of Parliament, and a vocal opponent of apartheid in South Africa.
When Nelson Mandela was released from prison, he personally thanked McCurdy.
This is McCurdy's story.

please be nice to service workers in the holiday season. a woman beside me waiting for coffee just said, out loud, in full earshot of the barista, "they're really slow, huh?" and all I wanted to do was tell the worker I'd be her alibi if she wanted to punch her

Worse than Wayne Gretzky drawing us in with (likely) Italy, he can't pronounce North Macedonia or Curacao...

Can we strip him of citizenship or something?

i strongly, strongly believe that good writing is downstream of clear thinking and a strong understanding of the subject matter at hand. without fail, tortured writing comes from writers who don’t know and can’t think clearly about anything.
Oh man! This paragraph is brutal. The best thing about this review is it's not trying to be mean. It's just listing how bad the writing is.

Katie is right, as usual. I’d also add time as a valuable commodity you shouldn’t waste.
The most precious commodity you have is your attention. You don’t have to waste it on poor-faith debates or arguments with strangers if you don’t think they’ll be productive. You can prioritize the things that matter to you and make your life richer.

Hey @sarahspain.com you would have loved this “Only in the #PWHL” moment at the @pwhlcharge.bsky.social game tonight. Woman on the right proposes to woman on the left on screen during a break. And the CROWD WENT WILD!!! (She said yes!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️)

This is an excellent food take. Can’t be any worse than donuts/danishes for breakfast.
This got me thinking….how do we as a society normalize pumpkin pie as a breakfast option at restaurants year round? Who will be the change we want to see in the world?
It turns out Mina and I have identical pie takes (literally had home made pumpkin pie for breakfast this morning before kids woke up).

This was an excellent column, from the perspective as someone who occasionally has to, you know, push words around for a living.
Life can be extremely difficult to navigate. I'm lucky enough to have found my way. Maybe I can help you figure out how to find yours.

The Charge are one of the best things to happen for Ottawa sports fans in a LONG time - please, Ottawa city council, DON`T SCREW THIS UP!
I want Ottawa Charge fans to understand that if Lansdowne 2.0 goes through as-is, there’s a genuine threat that we’ll lose our women’s hockey team. This would be devastating to our city, and to all the women + girls who have found hope and community in the PWHL.
