So, I finally decided to stop lurking and create an account. I'm so happy to see so many familiar accounts!

I’m sorry but it’s not up to you to decide if a student’s accommodations are unreasonable. if a student did everything necessary to get accommodations for “anxiety” then trust me, they need them. I once tried to apply for accommodations & it was so heartless & confusing I gave up.

We leave the determination of reasonable accommodation to the experts, and our job as professors is to accommodate as instructed.

In fact, we can learn a lot about good teaching by considering which accommodations might help all students if built into our policies (e.g. extensions and recordings)

I saw a tragically AI-generated version of this poster, so I have recreated a 100% human-made version for all your protest sign needs.

When the Supreme Court recently allowed immigration agents to consider race during sweeps, Justice Brett Kavanaugh said that citizens shouldn’t be concerned because agents will “promptly let the individual go.”

For these Americans, that wasn’t true: https://propub.li/47aawMD

This reporter actually did a good job in this interview. Cash is trying to push through the most restrictive abortion bill in history. S.323 as written could take away many contraceptives we have today in addition to criminalizing helping someone obtain an abortion.

SC is going down this slippery slope of controlling our universities through censoring what our professors can say and teach. Taking away tenure will destroy universities and send these academics to other professions. Just as our state is doing to OBGYNs. #ResistFascism

Something maybe worth noting is that all the frog costumes and signs and good-natured memeing came about because a wide spectrum of Americans saw someone in direct, brave confrontation with ICE—getting pepperballed and standing their ground—and thought “that’s awesome. That person is a hero”

Sarah Parker:

"The fabric of this country wasn't woven by oligarchs, corporations or power hungry politicians.

It was stitched together by workers, by immigrants, by black and brown communities, by women, by queer folks, and by people who refuse to stay quiet in the face of injustice."
I saw one little carrying a sign that said "I refuse to learn your hate" handwritten in crayons!!! She was shouting "we the people choose love."

Take note of all these people turning out for protests in small towns in red states.

Remember them the next time you’re inclined to write an area off because “they voted for this.”

Al Gore didn’t hold back: The Trump admin is “attacking the heart of truth,” twisting facts like the Nazis did in the 1930s. From climate denial to rewriting the Ukraine war, it’s all about power—not reality.
Gore warned the U.S. is under siege—and every former leader should speak out like he did.

Republicans in charge of Congress have abdicated all responsibility for governing the nation to Trump. There are no checks. There are no balances. No Kings.

This is good reporting on the disaster in Alaska if you're looking for a reliable summary.

This is a bigger disaster than I think most are realizing. 1500 people have been displaced by the flooding with an exceptionally complicated response and recovery.

Nothing says 'ignorance is bliss' more than Florida moving on from banned books to a state-approved vocabulary.

Books banned. Professors fired. Librarians threatened. Teachers censored, but the right of Young Republicans praising Hitler and calling for gas chambers will be defended.
Florida wipes 'culture,' 'diversity' and other terms from UNF teacher-education courses
State officials cast a wide net in seeking to ban certain terms, ensnaring courses where words like “culture” and “diversity” appear in innocuous contexts.
