Yritänpä vielä vähän oikoa virheellisiä käsityksiä "valtavirran taloustieteestä". Vähän aikaa sitten moni tykkäsi pöyristyä siitä, miten taloustiede muka käsittelee (tämän hyvin poleemiselta kuulostavan kirjan mukaan) naisten ja hoivan roolia taloudessa. Siispä seminaarianekdootti.

(It doesn't matter but now I'm annoyed I wrote it incorrectly, so a correction to above: it was not about reducing peak load from the data center but rather reducing load when the overall demand from the grid is highest)

You also need to test them regularly, which takes some of the allowed runtime. So either the English generators are much better for air quality or regulations in London are much laxer. Neither of those seems likely to me.

I'm not an expert, all my knowledge comes from occasionally listening to Catalyst podcast on venture capital and climate investments. There was a discussion whether you could reduce peak load to the grid by using diesel generators but air quality regulations limit heavily how often you can run them.

I would double check whether the generators are for back up or not. Fully running on diesel generators seems too crazy.

Ihan tarkalleen ottaen Merkel ei ilmeisesti sanonut noin. Ensin Bild venytti Merkelin vastauksen tulkintaa ja sitten englanninkielinen media veti siitäkin vielä mutkat suoraksi. Merkelin oikeissa lausunnoissa olisi riittävästi väiteltävää, ettei tarvitse takertua niihin mitä hän ei sanonut.

Tämä on hyvä kysymys. Tykkään työskennellä toimistolla mutta välillä olen miettinyt että onko siinä mitään järkeä kun ei-aamuihmisenä etsii epätoivoisesti paikkaa mistä vaan ja lähellä ei ole yhtään tuttua kollegaa.

Somewhat related: at least in some places in Germany if you have a monthly pass for public transport, you can take someone with you for free during weekends. That's a great idea in my opinion.
