Yesterday, unlike Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s last trip to the White House, no one was shouted at.

But there were some weird moments. Here are a few of them 👇
5 oddest moments from European leaders’ trip to see Trump

As an anthropologist, I'm inclined to try to understand stuff that looks like magical thinking rather than mock it, but proposing to build a God and then expecting him to tell you how to get rich is really testing all of my professional training...
From the replies (bsky.app/profile/dasb...) here's Sam Altman doing what the quoted post described. He seems serious about it.

1. The philosophy of science sometimes gets an unearned reputation as a purely academic exercise that offers little by way of concrete tools for advancing research.

This is wrong.

And today, as we grapple with how AI is changing the nature of scientific activity, it's desperately wrong.

There are no talks to end the Ukraine war. There is no peace process.

There is only Putin trying to conquer Ukraine, for the same illegitimate reasons he started the war, and Putin sympathizer Donald Trump futility trying to bluster his way to a peace prize, which Putin uses for cover and delay.
Putin's post-summit meeting with officials back at the Kremlin yesterday. Key phrase here is the same one he's used since the start of the Ukraine invasion: "It is precisely the elimination of these root causes that should form the basis of the settlement."

I don’t think AI is going to go rogue or even steal all the jobs. I think AI is going to create an AI spam/slop heap that’s so colossal in size, it will corrupt everything online. Information pollution. A literal Internet of Shit. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
