(Probably also doesn't help that the story seems to be lightly tying into some Marvel crossover that's happening elsewhere). But that aside I've generally enjoyed what I've read so far and I'll probably continue reading. It actually feels nice to be back on Spider-Man after being away for so long.
This is probably the part where Kelly's penchant for continuously introducing and juggling narrative threads feels most disjointed, as you can almost sense him searching for things to have the characters do without directly involving Peter. Sometimes feels like the story just can't breathe properly.
That said, I'm not feeling this current storyline which has Peter going to space and making friends with Rocket Raccoon and some other aliens, although funnily enough the space/cosmic stuff is probably what I object to the least. I just don't like what's happening with the supporting cast on Earth.
I have no clue how any of this plays to a new reader, or someone who's only casually acquainted with Spider-Man from the movies and cartoons. I assume a lot of this is stuff that Kelly inherited from previous runs. But you know, this obviously ain't my first rodeo so I just roll with it in the end.
For example, for a while there I forgot that Ben Reilly was back as a villainous(-ish?) character, and I had absolutely no idea that MJ was bonded to the Venom symbiote now (?). Kelly will bring up things like that for like one page in the most casual/offhanded way, so I end up going "huhhhh" a lot.
Roderick Kingsley is back as the Hobgoblin and Shocker and Tombstone have also appeared, and there have been some new villains as well. I like the relative normalcy/familiarity of things, though I've definitely had to roll with a few narrative punches after being away from Marvel comics for so long.
...and he's also kinda sorta seeing Felicia on the side. He's friends with Norman Osborn now, too (and I like the way "good guy Norman" is written more than I expected). May still works at FEAST (I've said it before but I find it crazy how much of a mainstay that's become across Spider-Man media).
That said, I like the status quo they've got set up here. Peter's current job is in a lab at Rand Industries, where he works with a childhood friend who I think Kelly created for this run. He's sort of casually dating a girl called Shay who is a nurse at Ravencroft (which is super funny to me)...
I ended up buying a bunch of issues. Kelly scripts like an old school comics writer, which means that at any given point he's juggling 400 subplots and he advances each one when the mood strikes him or when he can think of something to do with them. This can make the narrative feel a bit scattered.
I haven't read a Spider-Man comic in I don't know how many years. I think Slott's run was the last time I checked in. I heard Joe Kelly was taking over Amazing Spider-Man last year, and I remember liking his Spidey stuff from 15-20 years ago, so I figured I'd take a look at his relaunch.
Speaking of how Dick's demeanor differs from Bruce. This is a small but great bit of characterization. Dick catches a criminal called the Roadrunner, makes a joke about it, then remembers he has to stay in character as Batman.
Remember when Barbara Gordon was Oracle? The New 52 was a long time ago, man. Sheesh.
After the goofiness of Absolute Batman, I decided to reread Scott Snyder slightly more restrained Batman work in Detective Comics. This was after the Batman Reborn era, when Dick Grayson was Batman. I never got tired of characters pointing out the difference in Dick's demeanor as Batman vs Bruce's.
Look at this on the PlayStation Store.
Why did I ever buy an Xbox, bruh.

This is why Steph Curry as a screener is such a cheat code. I mean look at two defenders completely ignore Jimmy (with the ball!) and stick to Steph lmaoooo
Was really hoping this would work out as a counter to Gief's super and I'm glad it did. Something to keep in mind for the future.
Committing straight robbery.
Warriors playing some stinky ass basketball tonight.
Highkey there just isn't a current fighting game out there with a more fun combo system.
I really haven't liked any of the ones they've done for Elena so far.
