I only read English but I seek out news from other countries to get a bigger view of what’s happening in the world.

Ukraine, France & Japan all have English language versions of their news available on BlueSky.

In case you’re interested, this thread for sources I’ve found.

If we had elected Kamala Harris we wouldn't sit here doom scrolling because the would be no doom to scroll.
Sure you'd be bitching about something else but at least we'd have vaccines, a chance at protecting women's rights, a decent economy, free and fair elections, I could go on...

The Trump admin gave states an ultimatum: Cooperate with the immigration crackdown, or lose your federal funding.

Oregon and 19 other states fought back — and won.

In another point of American history, the junta’s immigration policies would be seen as a war on Catholics.
ICE’s acting director ordered a Boston Catholic parish to tear down its Advent Nativity scene—stripped of baby Jesus and branded with the message “ICE WAS HERE.” The parish priest is refusing, citing he pope’s call to stand with migrants. It's another chapter in Kristi Noem's war on Christians.

A Nativity scene missing Jesus — and marked with an “ICE was here” sign — has triggered cries of “politicizing Christmas.” The parish priest says he’s answering Pope Leo's call to welcome stranger.

President Donald Trump’s raucous rally Tuesday in Pa. was billed as the launch of a national tour focused on easing voters’ economic anxieties that threaten Republicans’ hold with the 2026 midterms looming.

But the economy couldn’t maintain the president’s interest for the duration of the speech.
Trump strays from script at Poconos rally, calling affordability a ‘hoax’ and Pa. a ‘dumping ground’ for immigrants
President Donald Trump came to Pa. to address the economy. Instead, he talked about Philly sports, attacked immigrants and falsely said he got the 'biggest' vote with Black people.

The U.S. is mirroring a pattern that has happened in authoritarian regimes around the world. When a government erects barriers to reproductive care, it doesn’t just cause death and suffering for women and their families. Such policies are often a first step in the gradual decline of democracies.
