I have to give my props to my girl Selah Summers. She was the first canon darkskin Black girl to be aroace AND a lead asexual character. Whilst she's technically "problematic" rep, she was an older gen z, messy, multifaceted, entertaining character and I love her so much🥰

And to be that annoying Ace person there were a grand total of 1 ace characters in (US) TV for this season. And going forward there will be zero. But nobody gives a shit. Not even GLAAD who didn’t bother to even properly mention and count the (lack) of asexual characters on TV.
"According to the report, [...]during the 2024-25 television season, queer characters increased across platforms by 4%, bringing the total to 489. However, the Thursday report found that 41% of those characters will not return." www.thewrap.com/glaad-where-...
Nearly Half of All LGBTQ+ Characters Will Disappear From TV Next Season, GLAAD Study Finds
The 2024-25 TV season recorded 489 queer characters across broadcast, cable and screenings, but cancellations and plot find a deep decline to come

Paging #BookSky 💙📚 #AceSky #QueerBookSky

But does anyone know any ADULT Fantasy and/or science Fiction books with AROACE(specifically aroace) MAIN characters coming out in 2026?
I’m already aware of;
•2nd Obsidian Throne by Maithree Wijesekara
•3rd book in Andrea Stewart’s Hollow Covenant series

It's such a complicated feeling to love that there are so many more queer books coming out these days and know basically none of them are about protagonists who are queer like me, an asexual adult- I browsed a list of 50+ upcoming queer adult SFF releases today and asexuality wasn't mentioned once 😕

There is a stripe of feral, terminally online leftist that arose during Lockdown who lack context, humility, & ability to socialize outside their little slacktivist brain rot groupchats.

Their guillotine posts had the best engagement, so they leaned into that persona to the detriment of all.

Some of the responses to this are not normal lmao. Many adults missing the point getting indignant saying “How dare you suggest kid appropriate SF published within this decade” pure stagnation Or ppl suggesting modern authors that are NOT YA/for kids. NK Jemisin is not a children’s author stop
Over on Reddit someone is asking for science fiction for their precocious young reader and the people there are suggesting books that were old when that kid's grandparents were the same age as the kid, for fuck's sake if you didn't know any SF books from this millennium maybe sit this question out

Damn only one? A couple series are battling in my heart but ultimately I gotta go with: The Craft Sequence Series by Max Gladstone and it MUST be animated, get Fortiche on that.

I stand firm that the vast majority of SFF are better served as animation. Down with live-action propaganda
If you could adapt any work of literature into a TV series (and you can only pick one), which would you pick and why?

We'll go first. Nalo Hopkinson's Midnight Robber. Seeing that world come to life with walls of Caribbean culture would be real fascinating to see on TV. So good.

Your turn!
