@dicknixon.bsky.social What do you make of Sanae Takaichi and the comparisons to Thatcher?
I hesitate to call it strategy. He's a bit like the Coyote still running midair after wandering past the cliff's edge. He falls, but like any cartoon, he dusts himself off and goes again.
I agree wholeheartedly. It's the dichotomy of 1) any other politician would never get away with it because 2) no other politician is dumb enough to try. He's skated on our unwillingness to throw his ass in stir, but I doubt it works in quite the same way for any other president hereafter.
Trump has proven to be the exception to just about every possible rule.
The unique power of Trump is that it only works for Trump. Like most evil magic, it's non-transferable.
When I say the next president should tear the banquet room down it is not a prediction, but I will say I'd be very surprised if the next elected president is Vance.
Lordy! My time has come.
Get ready for a fight over how much steak, butter and ice cream you should eat.

The most unrealistic thing about it is the idea that he has healthy, productive movements.
I haven't seen the video. I am not going to see it.
You have to wonder about people and their television fixations. Unhealthy.
Was tooling about Braddock County today. In my day, when someone's car was dusty, people would write "Wash Me" in the dirt. The Tesla in front of me-- someone wrote "JUDAS."
@wychstreet.bsky.social I think a play about what the Queen knew and when she knew it would be entertaining. Her conversation with Charles. Reminds me of a few folks here at the ranch, honestly.
My guess is that Andrew gets very interesting mail these days. Maybe they should let him read the deeply troubling ones. You know... the ones that get forwarded to MI5. (I imagine Scotland Yard handles his "supporters.")
The goal, mark my word, is to banish Andrew abroad forever. They aren't going to do that by coming out shotgunning.
But more will come out before that. This thing has no bottom, if you'll pardon the turn of phrase. He's not smart enough to take it and disappear.
Andrew may well outlive the King. The heirs will put his creaky ass on a slow boat to somewhere.
(Jesus... I need to not drink tequila in the afternoon...)
And the people of that benighted world will look up from their video games and recreational pharmaceuticals and mutter... "...who?"
Once it's finally, definitely confirmed, only then will we get all of the videos of his personal atrocities, his crimes, his slights. His entire presidency will be declassified and laid bare for all to see.
And then, at long last, when the day finally comes, they will get all of the details wrong on the news, because nobody can fucking write without a chatbot. They will get it so wrong that people will assume he's still alive for another decade.
He'll just keep living and living, showing up at the funerals and looking more and more decrepit. Clinton's, then Dubya's. Obama starts looking at his weird, quasi-embryonic form and thinking, "Goddammit! I'd better outlive this motherfucker!"
The family will all be complicit in using library funds to pay TMZ not to print the photos of the Secret Service changing his adult undergarments near the sand trap.
Sometimes, I think he's going to live into his 90s. Then Melania will keep trotting him out like Bob Hope, clearly out of his mind and looking like a rotten haddock. They're going to get a big former Marine to push him around the golf course in a giant baby buggy, covered with a bulletproof dome.
It's all gonna turn out to be embargoed until after the funeral, isn't it? We're gonna get all the receipts in a single afternoon, aren't we? <shudder>
... the dichotomy reminds me of a certain world leader of the 20th century, and his desire to be trod upon intimately. Not to mention soiled. But there was no tape, was there?
Trump's machismo is difficult to parse. There's the bluster and bravado. Then there's his taste in music. Andrew Lloyd Webber, specifically The Phantom of the Opera. The Village People, where most people cracked the code there early on. Now the elegant ballroom...
It's my understanding that some of these people pretend they are fictional characters. Kinda sick.
