I dare say there would be probably a lot less angst around romantic relationships if there was more focus on compatibility than worth. And the funny thing it often plays out a lot less to be meritocracy despite societal conditioning.

and as a result any romantic rejection is perceived as a statement of your personal worth rather than any of the other number of reasons someone might reject you.

We also have to stop viewing incompatibility as rejection.
That’s another culture issue but that’s neither here nor there.

We need to have the conversation tho. Ppl are refusing to exit dead relationships cuz they view breakups as failures. Incompatibility isn’t a factor when the alternative (being single) is considered worse.
