This isn't just a casual observation. Fascism scholars have long made this point. It's why calling them "weird" was a more effective strategy than talking about the prices of eggs. Fascism is an aesthetic political movement - you need to make people feel embarassed and horrified by it.

It occurs to me all the yelling at ICE in MPLS isn't merely funny. Getting made fun of like this is awful for morale. ICE is losing field officers faster than it can wave them through training, and a big part of it is how little of this these little weasels can take.

There’s a court case going before the Supreme Court tomorrow, West Virginia v. B. P. J., which is over trans rights, trans athletes, and whether Title IX protects gender identity or just biological sex. I don’t have high hopes for the court’s decision, because, well.

My partner was on unemployment last summer because of seasonal work ending, and it involved a once a week online response where he had to provide proof he’d applied to a certain number of jobs.

The main reason I’d like to own a small amount of property in the woods is because I have a bunch of dumb things I saw on YouTube as an early teen that I want to try, most of which involve microwaves and homemade pyrotechnics, and it’s hard to do that when you live in an apartment building.

This whole OU thing has really been a nice reminder that if I want to be a teacher, I’ll never be allowed to be out about my identity. Online, sure. But it will never be safe for me to ask my students and coworkers to gender me correctly.
