And here...we...go...

The New Orleans Pelicans today announced that Kevon Looney has been diagnosed with a proximal tibiofibular ligament sprain in his left knee. He will be out 2-3 weeks

Oh, there's whole elements of privilege surrounding those who can costume and protest in front of heavily-armed agents of the state without having to fear reprisal. That said, I'm glad they are using that privilege to display how pathetic this whole sordid exercise truly is.

They should realize then that they can never visit the Holy See while an Arsenal-supporting Pope is in charge.

They've had funk that was cut and processed and did not enjoy it.

NOMTOC is such a big deal. As big a party as the Westbank throws for itself.

I think Babylon tends to be fine. Not bad, not terrible, just fine. Chaos? Well, if we could shunt them to another night, I'd be happy with it.

Truth be told, I'm not sure there's an easier way to make that day end earlier. Muses is a superkrewe in all but name.

The parents will be so thrilled to hear that.

That Iris/Tucks Saturday is one of my favorite days of the season. Usually great weather. Amazing vibes. None of the stress. I don't know if it's because Endymion siphons off a ton of people away or because people haven't spent 3 days drinking, but it's a far better experience.

These idiots would declare war on WhoDat Nation if they could.

Ron Johnson on the No Kings protest: "One of the things I hope Kash Patel and Pam Bondi are looking into is the funding of these groups. Who pays for the busses to bus a lot of these folks in?"

That's part of my concern. It's basically going to force businesses to treat it like a mini-Fat Tuesday. And you know it's only going to make getting around town even crazier as people begin setting up earlier.

Last year, we caught it on Magazine (one of our coworkers lived nearby) and skipped Babylon and Chaos. Still didn't leave until 11 PM or so.
nolafredo.bsky.social
Probably so. And now, if they engage in their usual shenanigans, well, it couldn't be the case they're picking on Babylon. Cause who'd do that?

I LOVE Muses, but trying to get out there is becoming more and more impossible.
nolafredo.bsky.social
Wow. I mean, it probably helps cut down on what is already a long day/night for people. But it basically has to be a half-a-day of work for anyone who lives inside the box.

Also, putting Chaos up front first should limit the shenanigans.

🎭Thursday-before-Mardi Gras parades get a new lineup for 2026—Chaos leads at 4:30 p.m., Babylon 5:30, Muses 6 p.m.; full council approval pending.

I'd also add that there probably isn't another city in the world that takes their restaurants quite so seriously as us. Maybe NYC and Chicago do, but given their quantity, it's almost understood that it's impossible there.

Here it feels possible to list the greatest and have most agree.

That's the thing about authoritarians: they cannot stand being the butt of a joke. Humor aimed at their inadequacies undermines the fear they want to maintain. It's why it's such a potent weapon.

There used to be this old movie podcast called "The Hollywood Saloon" that used to do these series retrospectives talking about the movies, the behind the scenes stuff, etc. Their Halloween series look back was epic

I now wish we had something like this for the JCVD oeuvre from the late 80s-mid 90s
