Oh, there's whole elements of privilege surrounding those who can costume and protest in front of heavily-armed agents of the state without having to fear reprisal. That said, I'm glad they are using that privilege to display how pathetic this whole sordid exercise truly is.
That Iris/Tucks Saturday is one of my favorite days of the season. Usually great weather. Amazing vibes. None of the stress. I don't know if it's because Endymion siphons off a ton of people away or because people haven't spent 3 days drinking, but it's a far better experience.

That's part of my concern. It's basically going to force businesses to treat it like a mini-Fat Tuesday. And you know it's only going to make getting around town even crazier as people begin setting up earlier.
Wow. I mean, it probably helps cut down on what is already a long day/night for people. But it basically has to be a half-a-day of work for anyone who lives inside the box.
Also, putting Chaos up front first should limit the shenanigans.
I'd also add that there probably isn't another city in the world that takes their restaurants quite so seriously as us. Maybe NYC and Chicago do, but given their quantity, it's almost understood that it's impossible there.
Here it feels possible to list the greatest and have most agree.
That's the thing about authoritarians: they cannot stand being the butt of a joke. Humor aimed at their inadequacies undermines the fear they want to maintain. It's why it's such a potent weapon.
There used to be this old movie podcast called "The Hollywood Saloon" that used to do these series retrospectives talking about the movies, the behind the scenes stuff, etc. Their Halloween series look back was epic
