It's still warm enough for me to wear this dress and jacket I recently finished! I was inspired by the Korean jogakbo patchwork technique.

Mostly hand sewn, as I was on a family holiday and needed some relaxing hand sewing. 1000 flat-felled seams may not be relaxing to some, but it is to me 😅

Have you ever noticed that old clothes online sometimes look better than old clothes in your closet?

Why is that? 🧵

So much of the design of this early #1930s dress is about a trick of the eye - the trompe l’oeil - created in the illusion of pleats from the placement of the beadwork that covers the entire garment. Designed by Jean Patou it shimmers in pink and gold #V&A #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

My box of sox, in 2021. It was 58 pairs, but I've since added 18 more. I could go 2+ months wearing a unique pair each day.😀But I have favorites. I don't have a problem, I just need a bigger box. 📦👍

Not shown, nearly as many that I've knit for others.

This week is #creepycute for #crochetaway, & I have already shared many of my monsters, but not these!

Pattern is Ponysaur by Megan Lapp/Crafty Intentions. These are 2 of the 3 included leg options, and they are wired through the body to be poseable.

#amigurumi #crochetsky
Crochet monster called a Ponysaur has a long body with pointed tail, four pointy legs, and a single large eyeball for a head. Body is a turquoise/blue/white speckle yarn, and the eye is a turquoise safety eye. Body is turquoise and teal striped yarn, legs are magenta with turquoise stripes, and it has a turquoise safety eye.

In front of the ponysaur are the leftover bits of yarn from failed attempts at yarn chicken.

Spotted this beautiful winder at neighbor's yard sale and had to bring it home. I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but it has an adorable "clicker" design. It's a typical, 2-yard circumference, 80-yard measure.

#handspinning #reel #weasle
Am antique yarn winder. It is made of dark wood, has long, thing legs, and 4 arms. It's sitting next to a red woodstove in a farmhouse living room. A detail of the mechanism of the yarn winder. When the winder is turned clockwise, a wooden gear on the side of the winder turns counter clockwise. A small wooden peg on the gear passes the arm of a weight once every 40 turns. The peg pushes a lever down, and when it passes by, a wooden knocker strikes the table of the winder. The winder is also designed with a built-in wooden handle at the top.

A 3,500 year-old Egyptian glass cosmetic jar with two little duck heads!

Glass was a relatively new material at that time, so this jar would have been a precious possession.

From Merit’s beauty case, found inside Theban tomb (TT8) of Merit and her husband Kha in 1906. 📷 Museo Egizio

#Archaeology
Museo Egizio Turin photo showing a small, dark-blue, core-formed, round glass jar which tapers in at the shoulders below the neck. It has yellow, white, and light blue festoon decoration trailed around the main body. There is a single yellow trail just below the neck of the jar. There is a dark-blue circular glass lid, the top of which is adorned with two dark-blue duck heads with yellow bills, a yellow trailed stripe on the top of each duck’s head, and indents for their eyes. The jar is displayed on a perspex (?) stand against a grey background. Glass jar dimensions: 7.6 cm x 9.6 cm.

Core-forming is one of the earliest glassmaking techniques. Glassmakers shaped the body of the vessel around a core, wound colored trails around it. They then let the vessel cool and removed the core.

Finished the inkle band I've been working on!

This is wool yarn, Koigu KPPM (colorway P375), it compressed quite a bit with lovely little sparks of color! With the variegated yarn doing all of the work for the pattern, this one was relaxing after the complicated pickup band of the last one I made!

New favourite thing I've made! Wasn't getting on with the 70's western shirt, so decided to use this McCalls pattern I've made before & drafted my own yoke. Fabric was a remnant, so happy I was able to get the cowgirl on both sleeves. Brain on collar=happy accident #sewing #garmentsewing #sewsky

Farage wanting to kick people out of the country because they migrated here made me angry and made me think about which best of British people and things wouldn't have happened were it not for the brilliance of immigration to the UK.
Sgt Peppers album cover consisting of things that only made it because of immigration in to the UK, either immigrants themselves, the children of or as a result of someone else coming here.
