I've used the same cab company in the MD area for 40 years, since the school district only allowed them (bonded, licensed, insured) to transport children. It's usually cheaper than Uber/Lyft, and certainly more reliable.

I use Curb in DC. It’s basically the old taxi system, but on an app now. It’s also a lot cheaper than Uber or Lyft. Professional taxi drivers are paid directly — no need to give a huge cut to tech bro parasites. I save about 1/3 on rides home from the airport.
