Medical AI is not intrinsically bad. Imagine universal US public healthcare designed not to increase profits but to improve public health and individual freedom from preventable disability. Imagine a public AI tool as part of this, where data is not owned, stored, or used by private companies. 1/

Medical AI is not intrinsically alienating or harmful. It is alienating and harmful when it is designed and deployed within health-capitalist systems to augment their capitalist goals. It will remain so until we force major structural changes. 3/

This Administration’s policies will spur millions of new infections and deaths from AIDS. Today’s announcement is simply to rub all of our noses in this. It is to say: we know what we’re doing; we don’t care. It is pure sadism. It’s a descent into barbarism once again.

This is one way a media outlet can declare moral bankruptcy.
Over many interviews, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told Michael Scherer about how he plans to remake America’s public-health system. Can he lead the scientific establishment he’s spent much of his life crusading against?

The “big tent” thing was always a transparent rebuke of the growing power of the left inside the Democratic Party.

The mantra also came to embody the problems of the modern party—namely that it doesn’t actually stand for anything.

Here we have reached its logical, laughable extreme. Beyond parody.
Raskin: We are a big tent. We must be a huge, vast tent. I say this is a party that’s got room for Marjorie Taylor Greene if she wants to come over.
