And this is how it begins. We are but a few years from going down the same path as US. Complacency is our enemy - we need to sweat these small changes to stop the avalanche.

I think that maybe we should focus on greater issues than politicians travel. Things like being locked into a military alliance with a fascist regime, wasting money on AUKUS, a shitty NACC, hiding from accountability etc

They ran out of room for the fine print:

"LET THEM BE KIDS [exclusions may apply:
- News Corp punching down on trans kids
- State govts locking up more & younger black kids
- the Albanese govt refusing to ban gambling ads or take real climate action, and keeping 1 in 6 kids living in poverty...]"

With sites like Bluesky using KWS (fined for breaches regarding child safety) to do the checks and over complying with the "rules" set down by your government - it's clearly got nothing to do with child safety and more to do with data collection of adults.

Prohibition has never previously worked as a policy for getting people to not consume something they want, but fortunately the social media ban will buck this trend by virtue of its careful evidence-based design and Albo's friendly reassuring smile every time he fails to answer the question.

I’m trying not to post all negative things though. Life is good this week. My karaoke jam, Hold The Line, is playing in this bar and I have 1.5 glasses of Pooley Wine because they ran out of the first one. Chowder is on the way. It’s a good day.

basically ‘go out & play’ 🙄

if you want ALL kids to feel included & supported in the community you’re going to have to tackle some tougher issues like #housing #poverty #literacy + access to mental health & disability services…

knee-jerk policy by jerks

The only surefire way to stop oligarchs buying up the things we love is to drop those things the moment oligarchs buy them & that requires changing habits and massive self-discipline.
It means going to alternatives that might not be quite as good or convenient.
It’s really hard. But there it is.

Why is the US-ingratiating Australian media so ready to assume that ‘full-steam ahead’ on #AUKUS is good news? Australians never voted for this. We abhor Trump and despise US aggression. Let’s vote for the party that rips up this ruinous pact and destroys the fascist defence lobby pushing this BS.

Bit late but I just saw this graphic of how the new stadium is supposedly going to get around the fact there’s no passenger rail in Tasmania. Lololol rail haters have really fucked this state. Should’ve spent the last decade rebooting any kind of rail system!

The Tasmanian Government has known for years that they needed to replace the breast screening bus but procrastinated. Preoccupied with a stupid bloody stadium. A permanent clinic will be better in Huonville rather than Kingston. If the permanent clinics ever happen. All $ needed for the stadium now.
Aging breast screening bus only retired after staff get electric shocks
Tasmania's health department was aware a 32-year-old breast cancer screening bus was unsafe for years, but continued operating it up until two staff suffered electric shocks.
