I have done the trip with family many times, probably about 30 trips, mostly to head to south coast NSW so the change hasn't suited us. The government's reasoning is Melbourne isn't the destination primarily but the mainland. Our last trip was Geelong so we just made a road trip out of it.

I believe port costs was the overriding factor.

Except Tasmanian taxpayers aren't laughing.

That's a good idea. Something has to be done.

Not just fashion but Screen and Media just as Tasmania was starting to take off as a place for TV production with recent filming of new series. It's all part of government cost cutting to ensure there are dollars for the stadium. These arts and science courses will disappear altogether. #politas

No longer going to follow people who get a bit precious about a mild criticism of their favoured political party. All political parties, indeed all politicians, should be open to scrutiny without fear or favour. That includes the parties or independents that we might personally vote for. #auspol

Albanese is gutless. His fingerprints are absolutely all over this. It was good policy and now it's nothing but a damp squib. Chalmers will tow the line and say all the right things but inwardly he must be pissed off. #auspol
Chalmers wielded the axe on his super tax, but the PM's fingerprints were obvious
The treasurer has never been afraid to venture beyond his prime minister with his tax reform ambitions, but on superannuation, he has been pulled into line.

They did but a lower indexed threshold would bring in less revenue overall, according to the Financial Services Council, than Labor's original policy. I am just puzzled as to why the Greens would prefer to raise less revenue. It's a moot point now.
tassiedevil.bsky.social
I thought I had read that somewhere. Thanks for answering my question.
tassiedevil.bsky.social
I am not disagreeing. It's appalling that this will mean a reduction in significant revenue.
tassiedevil.bsky.social
So the $3M threshold stays but is now indexed. The $10M is the next threshold with a higher tax rate on earnings of 40% also indexed.
tassiedevil.bsky.social
That it is. Definitely Albanese. This isn't what Chalmers wanted I'm sure.
tassiedevil.bsky.social
True but didn't the Greens also want indexation on the concessional super tax changes?
