Devs on Discord basically inviting endless support questions by not putting their shit on a forum and just linking everyone to the answers.

Meanwhile all the users are "According to chatGPT..."

How fucking lost do you have to be to ask a liar for help??

Organizing my connectors bin. Arcade hardware is so much easier to work with if you have the right parts and some good tools.

In this image, parts for Namco, Capcom, Sega and SNK machines and games. And more!

While fiddling with the Aleck64 I finally ordered the parts to hook up the P2 buttons. 25 years ago I bought the panel with half the wires missing.

Now I can put it back in storage knowing it will work should I suffer a head injury and want to play it again.

Chrissabug does amazing work, and I absolutely have a weakness for art nouveau frames. That stuff cuts right through me in the most excellent way.

This is a core part of what makes the MiSTer platform work, and it's so fast now I thought it was broken last time I ran it. Amazing work.
This is what a two-second update looks like in the latest version of Downloader.

This is fucking great, good job Necrosoft.
We did something different with the credits for Demonschool. We used this format: name, title, lengthy description of what they did. Often you see credits in games where you don't know what the credited developer was actually responsible for. We wanted to give people proper, actual credit.

I wanted to know more about how Seta's Aleck64 system worked, so I pulled out a screwdriver and had a look around.

This arcade-only Nintendo 64 system is almost but not quite exactly compatible with N64 games and controllers.

N64 and Aleck64 Controllers
A quick dive into the Aleck64 and how it differs from the Nintendo64, including a look at the controller pinouts and cartridge adaptors.

A couple of decades ago I created a 'font engine' that allows anyone to create text images using 179 (and counting) fonts from arcade (and etc) games.

Last week I had a client show up at my studio, unexpectedly. She wasn't in my calendar, oops.

Today we're doing the rescheduled shoot and my camera just up and dies. I finish the shoot with a spare.

Then the memory card can't be read on the PC.

Is there a lesson here? IDK.

"Everything not a sheep is dangerous" works pretty well for Australia too, tbf
In Icelandic we have 'Ókind' for monster. But the translation is un-sheep. So everything not a sheep is dangerous.

The classic kusoge (shit games) Cho Aniki and the sequel Ai Cho Aniki are coming out for PC!

If you're keen on a 20 year old opinion of this 30 year old madhouse of a game, I have one!

I recently set up Groovy MiSTer, which acts as a display for Groovy MAME running on a PC. It's a brilliant setup that bypasses the PC's laggy video subsystem entirely. It's an easy thing to set up, but I felt an up to date concise (written!) guide might be handy for some people.

So I wrote one.
Groovy MiSTer Install Guide
I recently set up a Groovy MiSTer system and found that none of the guides quite covered everything I needed to know, so I wrote another one!

What an asshole. Steals the logos someone else vectorized, offers no thanks or credit, then says they only have value because he gave them meaning with his words.
We've been given a statement by @obsoletesony.com regarding the use of Sony Logos' work without permission or credit:

My new coping strategy is digging a bunker, tapping into the old coal mines and popping up in basements, and stealing preserves.

Except Australia has no basements and people don't do preserves anymore. So I guess I'll just dig holes, pop up in yards like a mole in Mario World, and scream.

Copped a big hit from the storm today. A dozen dents on my car from the hail and so much water came in through the window of my hoise there were wet boxes above my head, and I'm tall. Pools of water on the floor, and on my arcade cabs. Water literally pouring off arcade PCBs when I pick them up.

New interview! A followup to a recent post where I unearthed a 2008 interview with turboxray, who was doing cool things with the PC Engine.

Well near enough 18 years later he's doing more cool stuff! I asked about Ghouls n Ghosts for the SuperGrafx, Street Fighter, Bonk and Dracula X!
Updating Old Games
Talking about game 16 bit game hacking: updating the PC Engine SuperGrafx versions of Street Fighter 2, Ghouls n Ghosts, and drawing graphics the Neo Geo way.

I did not think miyamoto would have said that. Happy to be right about something for a change.
So the Miyamoto quote was not correct. This is what he actually said. It doesn't change what I said about Nintendo not actively helping game preservation, though.
So this is just legitimate ragebait. The context was specifically about expanding the Nintendo IPs and the Nintendo Museum where they can see and use old hardware. Here's the question and answer
