That couple from that travel blog you read once while searching for info about Japan probably. Or maybe Disney. Skeets by Simon, but if it’s actually useful I cribbed it from Erin. https://www.neverendingvoyage.com

Hello Voyagers we are back from Lake Molveno in the Italian Alps!

I am currently working through the 450 video clips we shot to see if I said anything coherent in there and Erin is working on a new post, but in the meantime here's an unreal sunrise she captured on her way to a morning paddleboard:
Nice! Yeah, it’s a cool little town!
🚨New Post: Camogli, The most magical seaside town in Italy 🇮🇹

Our new favourite spot on the Italian coast. Laid back and charming, but close to Portofino, Cinque Terre, and the Italian Riviera. We loved it so much we extended our stay!

Continuing our deep dive into our new favourite Italian town, we have a review Hotel Cenobio deli Dogi. It is a little pricey, but with private beaches, a heated pool, and an excellent restaurant, perhaps a little indulgence is in order?

We were fortunate enough to be in Camogli for the annual Sagra del Pesce (fish festival), in which giant, extravagant bonfires are constructed, tons of fish are fried in a massive frying pan, the clock tower is decorated, and there's a huge fireworks display!

Substack has its own traffic, so just in terms of diversification maybe it’s worth accepting the limitations?

(That’s a question more for me than you at this point—you’ve got me rethinking our approach again!)
Yeah, segmentation is something else that’s missing. It’s closer to blogging with a paywall and RSS to email than a true list management platform.

Autoresponders have been a great list builder for us, but otoh that will go down as Google shifts to AI and we lose traffic.
Also Substack has discovery features built in, which is a way to further build your list.
And it’s free.

If it added autoresponders or workflows, I think I’d switch.
We switched to Flodesk from Mailchimp as we have an autoresponder series that we want to keep.

If you want to do any sort of automated email workflows, Substack doesn’t work unfortunately.

For paid newsletters, though, not sure it can be beat at this point. We’re still considering it for that.
The only dowinse is they're a little bulky to wear as is, so I've ordered the lavalier extensions for them as well.

Support 32 bit float too, which should help resolve clipping issues when Erin screams at me for getting the name of a place wrong for the 19th take in a row.
New gear day! We are beginning the long, slow pivot to video and as part of that I have been doing a lot of shopping.

Picked up the DJI Wireless Mic 2 and they sound fabulous, completely killed the echo in our rather echoey house.
On our most recent trip to Disneyland Paris we stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, right at the park entrance. The location is dynamite but so is the price* which raises the question: Is it worth it?

We wrote a post that answers that very question: buff.ly/HdMvztt

I am excited to get back to Kyoto! Here's our list of cool things to do there: buff.ly/YUAdYgq

Also, it's where Nintendo is based so maybe I can go ask them personally for a Switch 2? 🤔

(Yes, I got a preorder invite. No, I didn't take them up on it. Yes, I regret that now.)

Two fonts bad.
four fonts good.
My librarian friend sent me the best book cover you will ever see.
On our most recent trip to Sicily, there was 1 morning where the weather was clear enough for us to climb Etna (fig. 1)

Except, of course, it couldn’t last (fig. 2).

Still, if you’re going to get caught in a blizzard, do it on a mountain where the rocks are literally warm to the touch!
Ha yeah it’s the one major downside of English hikes!
The Dales Way is an 80 mile multi-day hike across the Yorkshire Dales and one of the best things we’ve done on our travels.

Absolutely stunning:
