Mills, running against Graham Platner in the Maine Democratic Senate primary, would become the oldest freshman (79) ever elected, to a 6-year term.

This thread (scroll up for the whole thing) explains the Portland vibe very well, at least to me as someone who grew up up there in the 80’s and 90’s. This poster hung in our downstairs bathroom for that whole period. And I can attest that “Keep Portland weird” is far older than 2003!

Here is a poster that hung in my house my entire life, and which my mom gave to me when we moved to CT. The photo in it was taken in downtown Portland in 1978, and the man in it was a bar owner at the time - six years later he became the Mayor.

THIS is Portland humor, which is not new!

I try to not dwell on the minutiae of current crisis. This sounds heartless, but I have to protect my mental health in order to fight this administration with every effort I can.

Because this wrenching story is just one, out of THOUSANDS. The sheer scale of the cruelty is maddening.

Every day at noon, no matter how busy, Johny Merida Aguilar left his construction job and hurried to his 5-year-old son's school to feed him. His son has brain cancer and generally only accepts food from his father.

Merida Aguilar was arrested by ICE in September and faces deportation to Bolivia.

He was caring for his 5-year-old son with brain cancer. Then he was detained by ICE.

A court has temporarily blocked Johny Merida Aguilar's deportation to Bolivia.

He got the COVID and flu Vaccines like every 79 year old should this is a good thing.
"Cardiovascular age validated by by ECG and found to be 14 years younger than chronological age" is a nonsensical phrase.
I am an internist this is not something we do or write in medical reports.

My best friend has lived in Germany for the past five years. There are many things she likes about Germany, BUT….

Even at a bougie private kindergarten, her son was called the German word for “outsider” by other children.

I used to be of the mind that “abolish ICE” was a virtuous slogan, but mostly unrealistic.

Now it’s a required position for any elected official that wants my vote. IANAL or a poli/sci expert, but I feel like there’s enough evidence to make a strong case for shutting it down.
