If there's one thing I've learned writing for an international, mostly American, audience, it's that most Americans don't need - nor do they want - things to be translated into "American". They just rarely get the chance to not be sheltered by their insular media.

Because the big social media platforms are themselves the thing pushing fascism, and the accounts producing the specific misinformation and ideological poison they use to do so are simply the crops they sow, and can be entirely geographically decentralised.

Whenever a piece of media I'm involved in gets exposed to transphobic audiences there's always several "what IS it?" "WHAT is THAT?" comments.
And I personally choose to read that as them describing their uncomfortable and overwhelming sexual desire.
