This. All of weary this.
From Facebook.

I was thirty when I first accessed the Internet, forty when I first had a smartphone and Social Media. And both were such incredible discoveries, making life easier, and adding friends, and communities, and insights, and learning, and information, from all over the world...

Another year, another #WaveOfLight2025. Doesn’t feel like the 13th but it is. Sending love to all the other parents reflecting on loss this evening.

Gaie also writes as Jade Linwood. If feminist retelling of fairy tales are up your alley (and why wouldn't they be?) I recommend you pick up a copy of Charmed or Beast?

Gaie is a terrific writer and I've had the pleasure of working with her several times.

Genre fans - our lovely friend Gaie Sebold deserves a boost right now. May I recommend Babylon Steel, a book where the cover absolutely fails to do justice to a story of found family and dimension hopping gods, all set in a brothel? It's an excellent book.

I love to go to Chat GPT 5 with its alleged “PhD level expertise” and an ask it about my MA thesis work and see that it really cannot do that level of academic work whatever. It can do a SIMULACRUM of that work, which might fool you if you did not have any expertise.

This isn't a list of jobs that A.I. can easily replace.

It's a list of jobs that techno fascists don't think are worthwhile or meaningful and that they want to eliminate.

They don't want humans to try to make sense of the world, they want us to believe whatever we're told.
Yo, historians, what the actual ****?

I've seen how LLMs handle "history." This is... not good.

Honestly this is the whole thing. While there are some professional bigots who will never change, I truly think a ton of everyday people who have been brainwashed by the hate campaign against trans folks would stop after meeting and learning from real trans folks. That's why they wanna silence us.
❤️ WISCONSIN: “I’d like to apologize. My eyes were opened. I’ve learned a very lot about this group of people.”

Larry came to testify against the anti-trans youth health care bill, but had an epiphany and changed his mind.

I will never forget the photo of Zelenskyy’s face after he saw Russia’s war crimes in Bucha in 2022. He seemed to age years in an afternoon. Watching him constantly cross the world asking for aid that should have been thrown at him is one of the deepest shames of our age.

Four years ago, I was trying out a weekly release of audiobook-style narration, using short pieces from the public domain. One of them, shockingly relevant then and scarily relevant now, was Ur Fascism, written by Umberto Ecco.

It is, sadly, time to repost it.

By popular request, here is Umberto Ecco's essay UR-FASCISM, published in 1995. In this essay, he talks about living in Fascist Italy as a child, growing up under that system during the Second World

I think those of us who profess to be science fiction writers need to switch up our game.

We've spent decades writing about beings with General Intelligence (GI), calling it AI.

The reading/watching public now conflates AI with GI.

Considering the impact of this, we should be more specific.
