Recovering pessimist
The sport has become about the portal and your NIL warchest.

Blaming Notre Dame for playing within the environment that the adults created for them is lame as hell.
The point of playing football is to play football.

So Notre Dame's decision to opt out of playing a bowl game isn't just disappointing, but bad for the sports, @chrisvannini.com writes.

Dude, the best team in the conference wasn’t in the title game because of a funky rule.

Why are we assuming that Notre Dame would be immune to that?
Notre Dame would have been playing last night and likely won their way into the field.

They could just change their name to Alabama, since nothing really matters for them. Might be easier

My favorite is the “well they should accept a full membership to the ACC”

You mean the same conference that didn’t get their own conference champion in?
Stop the debate on Notre Dame joining a conference cause it clearly doesn’t matter.

1) Putting this decision solely on the students (the statement says team, which implies more than students) is gross
2) If you think student athletes have actual holiday break or worry about finals in 2025… lol

We do no one any favors if we’re not honest about what college athletics is now
A bunch of college students decided they don't want to play an exhibition game that would keep them away from their families and make finals that much more difficult. And grown ass men are attacking them.

When you’ve turned the sport into just about the playoff, this is gonna happen.

Related point: This is where the anti-“everyone gets a trophy” sentiment gets it wrong because it robs of the fun this sport used to have.
10-2 Notre Dame announces it will not accept a bowl bid after missing the playoff.
December 7, 2025 at 9:07 PM
Exactly.

If Notre Dame needs to join a conference, the Big Ten is right there.
As an ND fan, I’ll acknowledge perhaps a conference is in our future but we need to run as fast as possible away from the ACC.
December 7, 2025 at 6:28 PM
So what i’m hearing the internet say is Notre Dame should join the ACC to gain some more conference respect.

Because the ACC is so respected that they didn’t even their conference champion in the playoff right?

AGREED
Upon seeing that it was not GG for Miami, I’m thinking they should reconsider releasing these rankings every week
December 7, 2025 at 5:37 PM
OR NOT.
Alabama at 9?

GG’z Miami

After talking about it with @lebrownlow.bsky.social , Jim Phillips is Slim Charles when he shoots Cheese.

The ACC Football champion is a team that barely qualifies for the Duke’s Mayo Bowl
December 7, 2025 at 5:05 AM
THATS HOW YOU LOSE A PLAYOFF SHARE
December 7, 2025 at 4:58 AM
Allowing Duke to fuck up your playoff share should be Jim Phillips’ Waterloo
December 7, 2025 at 4:14 AM
There are never more than four deserving teams.

Shit, there are rarely two deserving teams.
The biggest issue we have is that there prob should never have been college football playoffs. Or just left it at 4 teams. But every year pushes this closer and closer to complete chaos. Greedy greedy greedy

Dion Lennox wins the men’s iron survivor right?

Only result sans Jevon that makes sense
December 7, 2025 at 1:20 AM
I mean, if this was the SEC. Sure.

Why are we assuming the committee gives a damn about the ACC
One thing I am watching for in the next 16 hours: If Duke wins, does that strengthen Miami's playoff case? Pretty good chance, imo, with the committee wanting to avoid the constitutional crisis of leaving out an autonomy conference

I hope Kalen DeBoer’s insured against fire damage
Question?

What if Alabama loses?

This is going to be fascinating because most pediatric clinics will *happily* tell you to take that vaccine hesitancy shit elsewhere

But of course this will end up affecting poor people

So yeah, I can’t do the whole global moral collapse as a recent thing
It's enough to make you sick, it really is, but it's a helpful moment to clarify our current moment of global moral collapse

The “At Least it’s not with Larry Ellison” folks are going to prove to be incredibly shortsighted on this.
Netflix confirms it will acquire Warner Bros., including its film and television studios, HBO Max and HBO, for about $82.7 billion, after separation of Discovery Global (which is expected to be completed in Q3 2026).
