Entire creation of new data that has no bearing upon any histological relevance. Remember LLM models are not open and we have no understanding of what NeuN, GFAP, or DAPI means in biological space within the LLM.

This is nonsense. But it looks at first blush as "real" to the uninformed.

Scary.
Gemini 3 created this figure in under 30 seconds from a couple reference images and a one sentence prompt

So I’m at a loss for words, honestly #MicroscopyMonday

👀 I was already strongly considering doing my honors thesis in this direction and this will line up perfectly within the timeline I’m going to be working on it.

the worst part is that for the people at the top "good at math"/sciencey is essentially a vibe one socially codes their way into by being minimally competent at informally discussing things actual math/science people do, unless (e.g.) Elon Musk has proven a theorem I didn't hear about.
I think the belief by the powerful that "people will put up with many things if you are excellent at math" is incredibly revealing in terms of understanding How We Got Here

Applying to the NIH undergraduate summer scholars program for neurological surgery in 2026. Glad some of these still exist. Wish me luck.

It seems like this is the rule rather than the exception for public goods in the US. I dont have any numbers in front of me, but it seems like if there‘s away to contract out government functions to the private sector, they’ll do it. All based on the doubtful assumption it will be cheaper.
So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

The advances we've made in statistics, experimental study design, and causal inference over the past century are remarkably useful for understanding our world. But there is never been a push to make people use them like we are seeing with generative AI. Perhaps take a moment to consider why.

In comb jellies, the "reticular theory" was correct!

"The reconstruction revealed a total of three aboral nerve net (ANN) neurons, all of which are syncytial, meaning they have multiple nuclei enclosed in a continuous membrane. The comb jelly’s subepithelial nerve net (SNN), which sits in M […]

My senior year of highschool (2008) a member of the young republicans said obama should be assassinated in the middle of one of our classes. I can’t quote the words they actually used directly because thats how awful it was.
I think the main difference between the College Republicans, YAF and YAL of yore and now is that there always kind of a “tee-hee” trolling element to the racism. Now, it’s just overt. I kind of saw that shift happening in real time as I was in my final years of college.
They have 100% always been this way, though notably the transition from helicopter rides and referencing crushing minorities abroad humorlessly transitioned to nazi shit, but like that's basically a new layer of paint instead of a new perspective.

Boiling here at home in Cyprus but I put the finishing touches a couple of days ago on this preprint: What Does 'Human-Centred AI' Mean? doi.org/10.48550/arX...

Wherein I analyse HCAI & demonstrate through 3 triplets my new tripartite definition of AI (Table 1) that properly centres the human. 1/n
