On a micro example: losing a hardworking experienced friendly colleagues, because of the end of their graduate visa. We are charity so nowhere close to the salary requirements.

It beggers belif that our economy or culture will be anything but poorer as a result.

This is happening all over.

It is laughable to think that you can neuter the far right with minor tweaks like this.

How many Conservative or Reform supporters even know that immigrants have to pass a language test? They object to immigration on emotional grounds, not because they have dry objections to eligibility criteria.

To ensure graduates contribute effectively to the economy, the maximum post-study stay will be reduced to 18 months from the current 2 years for most from 1 January 2027. It comes after data clearly showed that many holders had not transitioned into graduate-level employment as intended.
Finance requirements for student visas will also be increased for the 2025 to 2026 academic year, meaning foreign students will have to demonstrate they have sufficient funds to support themselves.

Completely agree, adding additional regulation
adds additional cost which makes it harder to deliver the programme at any scale.

It also paradoxically reduces resident voice, when in normal insulation jobs they are the ones who have the power and control.

There’s not much to say about the solid wall insulation failures that hasn’t already been said. A diabolical policy failure that wasted money and harmed people.

But one thing I will add is: I think it highlights the need for more state delivery capacity on warm homes, not just regulation

I had to leave the Green Party Conference early today to visit the mosque that was firebombed in Peacehaven.

I was surprised by how moved I found myself in hearing a UK party leader describing the Jewish experience - knowing your(fairly recent) ancestors moved from country to country to escape violence, having that define your family history.
