Another Ernest Chiriacka original. My two things of note on this one are those fantastic expressions, and the guts it took to just... no illustrate that foreground column in any way. It's nothing but an online. Not colored. Not anything.

Of course, any Legion fan knows this to be truth and in a thousand years there will be a thriving society of telepaths, there.

Holy shit! I just finished reading Beware the Creeper by Jason Hall & @cliffchiang.bsky.social & I'm just...gah, I loved it. Literally felt made just for me & deals with so many of my interests.

Paris in the '20s, Café Society, sex, art, murder, class conflict, and a dollop of history. Brilliant.
Cover to the Beware the Creeper YPB by Cliff Chiang featuring The Creeper leaping over the rooftops of Paris with the title of the book in large font behind her.

omg how mad would you be that your secret cinema in the Parisian catacombs had been rumbled

In 2004, Parisian police were conducting a training exercise in the french catacombs and found, after moving past a desk and a tape playing audio of snarling dogs, a fully functional movie theater and bar. When they returned 3 days later, the equipment was gone, with a note: “Do not try to find us.”
Members of the force's sports squad, responsible
- among other tasks - for policing the 170 miles of tunnels, caves, galleries and catacombs that underlie large parts of Paris, stumbled on the complex while on a training exercise beneath the Palais de Chaillot, across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower.
After entering the network through a drain next to the Trocadero, the officers came across a tarpaulin marked: Building site, No access.
Behind that, a tunnel held a desk and a closed-circuit TV camera set to automatically record images of anyone passing. The mechanism also triggered a tape of dogs barking, "clearly designed to frighten people off," the spokesman said.
Further along, the tunnel opened into a vast 400 sq metre cave some 18m underground, "like an underground amphitheatre, with terraces cut into the rock and chairs". There the police found a full-sized cinema screen, projection equipment, and tapes of a wide variety of films, including 1950s film noir classics and more recent thrillers. None of the films were banned or even offensive, the spokesman said.
A smaller cave next door had been turned into an informal restaurant and bar. "There were bottles of whisky and other spirits behind a bar, tables and chairs, a pressure-cooker for making couscous," the spokesman said.
"The whole thing ran off a professionally installed electricity system and there were at least three phone lines down there."
Three days later, when the police returned accompanied by experts from the French electricity board to see where the power was coming from, the phone and electricity lines had been cut and a note was lying in the middle of the floor: "Do not," it said, "try to find us."

cat yronwode goes even deeper filling in the blanks from the comic book perspective, with more Claremont details, in this post responding to a question about the author of the previous article, Alan Cabal.

After reading this, the Belasco/Illyana thing and Claremont's brief dalliance writing for Satana makes a whole lot of sense. I didn't realize he had a connection by marriage to the magickal community in NYC, or that all the comic guys hung out at the Magickal Childe. www.nypress.com/news/the-doo...

Brian Bolland posted this over on Threads. Such a great cover. His Wonder Woman work was absolutely top shelf. I would have loved to see a full-length story drawn by him.

Question for any Scooby fans out there: If someone was going to produce a couple of new audio commentaries for Be Cool Scooby-Doo episodes, which would you consider to be the top two that you would want to hear people involved with the show talking about?

Asking for a friend.

All right, just turned in the last strips of my second year on FLASH GORDON. That's 730 installments in the bag -- appearing in a rough average of 1.5 panels per strip, I've drawn Flash about 1,095 times. Still takes me a couple tries to get his hair right. Tomorrow we start on year three ⚡
Flash Gordon and Prince Thun take on a squad of green-skinned Shark Men And old man looks up at a mural of Flash Gordon crossing swords with Ming the Merciless. Flash Gordon frees Edda from her locked helmet, and the mechanic can't help herself from laying a smooch on him. Flash Gordon negotiates with Empress Aura. "Tch. Fine," she sneers, conciliating. "Savior of the Universe..."

He smiles back. "You love it."

It doesn't get better than Bruno Premiani's DOOM PATROL, with writer Arnold Drake. Weird, charming, beautifully illustrated, and just fun comics.

Consider this a Random Bruno Premiani Art Appreciation Post.

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

Just got a notification that singer/songwriter, Josh Rouse, who has been making music and releasing albums for over thirty years, is now ready to sell you your next home.

I'm hoping this is a legitimate lifestyle choice and not because he can't make money in the music industry anymore.🫤
Screenshot of Josh Rouse's FB post announcing he has joined a real estate company and will be selling homes.

While I still prefer the domestic poster/cover art that we have, I feel this Japanese Blu-ray maybe has more of a finger on the actual spirit of Tom & Jerry. If the movie was released by a boutique studio it would be cool to include the Japanese art as an alternate image on a reversible insert.
Japanese Tom and Jerry Blu-ray cover featuring Tom with a firehose in his mouth and inflated with water. The hose is connected to a hydrant and Jerry is opening the hydrant with a wrench. Domestic Tom and Jerry poster featuring Tom and Jerry screaming on a skateboard speeding down the middle of a busy street.

A little birthday gift to myself just arrived in the mail, today. Happy to have finally completed my Jonny Quest collection. I now have all the television shows and films on DVD or Blu-ray (though I'm still not happy with that Cyber Insects transfer that Warner Archive released last year).
Picture of DVD cases for The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest Season One Part Two and the Complete Second Season.

Many years ago, I had the pleasure of collaborating with @alexrossart.bsky.social on a story that served as the starting point for what became MARVELS. It was a real pleasure to see what it became and I’m thrilled for the chance to tell that story in a new way.

This pretty much sums up my experience of reading H2SH.
Panel from Batman #161 written by Jeph Loeb and drawn by Jim Lee and Scott Williams.

It depicts a close-up of Batman's face and the captions read "I am angry. Not only at this situation. With myself."

Another great conversation from J Alex Morrissey featuring guest, Michael Avon Oeming.

Mike Oeming stops by to talk about his career, and how reframing what success was for him, led to an artistic breakthrough, and kicked his career into overdrive, with comics like POWERS, THOR, CAVE CARSON, and DICK TRACY.

Now Mike and the team are back with, POWERS 25!
