Yes, but also… (Can still feel and hear exactly how my grandmother’s felt and sounded when I would play with it at her house.)

Old fashioned phone directory. It’s a metal case with a button on the front. When you push the button, it opens and you see that there is a book of papers inside that you can write on. There are letters down the front and a plastic slider. You could slide the slider down to the first letter of your friend’s name and then push the button on the bottom and the metal “book” would open to that letter.

Things are pretty stressful right now but you can also make s'mores versions of Rice Krispie Treats by substituting 2 cups of Golden Grahams and adding semisweet chocolate chips on top. Full recipe in alt-text.

A square pan of S'mores Rice Krispie Treats. Butter or spray oil on a pan. Melt 1/2 cup of butter in large pan for 3 min, add regular 10oz bag of mini marshallows and 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract (stir on med heat until just melted), then mix in 4 cups puffed rice, 2 cups Golden Grahams cereal. Pour into your prepared pan and add semisweet chocolate chips on top. Wait for them to cool before flipping onto a chopping board and cutting up into smaller pieces.

It was definitely first year only. I do remember using the computer lab after that. And it’s possible I was just unaware. But the fact that they even still had a room full of typewriters says something.

My first year in college, the lecture hall for psych 101 had ashtrays, and I had to put quarters into a machine to type my papers on an electric typewriter. And this was in the (early) 90s!! (Did they not have computers or did I just not know about the computers? The answer is lost to time…)

My students looked at me funny today when I explained to them that when I took the analogue to the class that we're in together, there were ashtrays in the chairs
