My first article for the Midway Como Frogtown Monitor combines many of my interests: art, soccer, community, and local politics.

Thanks to Andy Scott, Chris Dyson, Bill McGuire, Shari Ballard, Mayor Melvin Carter, and more, for your words.

Met góod friend at Maya Cuisine for brunch on Sunday.

They are trans and were wearing a "Chinga La Migra" t-shirt. A Latino gentleman smiled and laughed and wanted a picture of my friend and the t-shirt.

I love #Minneapolis.
I hope @dewayneforminneapolis.com doesn't mind me retelling a story he told me when we first met last winter. I kept it to myself because he wasn’t telling it publicly but he mentioned it yesterday. It’s one of the things that’s leading me to rank him first. A hope-its-ok-and-I-get-right 🧵:
Yesterday, I hosted an incredible event, "Ward 8 for a New Mayor." We talked about why we need a new mayor and then @jazzformayor.bsky.social , @omarfatehmn.com , and @dewayneforminneapolis.com laid out why they should be our next mayor. I came away excited about all of them and will rank all three!

I was honored to represent Robin Wonsley and Michael Wilson. I admire them for their commitment to the hard, necessary work ahead of us and required of us. I got fired from a good job for taking this case, and yet I wouldn't change a thing. Thank you, Robin and Michael, for fighting for Minneapolis.
We won!

Following three weeks of legal proceedings and over five hours in court, the judge found Wayzata-based Minneapolis landlord John Wall in violation of the law on three counts, resulting in a $1,450 fine.
Some #Minneapolis updates for renters

Part 1
City Council just passed the STOP Slumlords ordinance, which protects renters living in the city’s most neglected properties.

Landlords like Brian Fitterer who manage properties with significant property violations will no longer be able to automatically renew their licenses.

MAJOR victory for tenant's rights: the Minnesota Supreme Court has overturned its 1995 precedent and ruled that the doctrine of waiver applies to housing subsidy payments. That is, landlords cannot continue to accept Section 8 voucher payments and still evict them for material breach of lease. HUGE.

Draft a team of 8 eligible movies released in 2025 using a budget of 100 fake dollars. Each movie has been assigned a value based on its points-earning potential.

Sounds fun!
i am not a professional, but i have had a few days to ponder this.

1. Are you feeling unnoticed, invalidated, unrecognized in any community/space?

2. Is there an area of your mind that feels cluttered with too many thoughts/trauma/feelings?
"if you as a business owner want support from young people, progressive people, and the working class—the folks who are vocally upset? Then you have to act in a way that aligns with their values, even if it slightly dings your (seemingly substantial) wealth." - @biketrouble.bsky.social
I am a huge fan of physical media. I collect CDs, DVDs, and BlueRay because I like own my media and play whenever I want.
Is it too much to ask Police to follow the laws?
State Patrol told me they'd have a supervisor call me back.

It's Tuesday and I've not yet received a call.

It's a small thing, but I just want to demonstrate how fucking hard it is to hold cops accountable in this state.

I’ve been rewatching the Coen Bros filmography this month and while drawing a Barton Fink illustration, it struck me how much their films feel like Far Side cartoons: funny, strange, clever, yet frequently inscrutable. Anyway here’s a thread!
