Six more weeks of budget speculation being used to bash Reeves, Starmer and Labour.

Surely no one in their right mind thinks our economy is booming and we don’t need to address this? Do they?

I’m just glad we are in sensible hands. We all need to muck in. Rebuild Britain.

Here’s the latest 'scoop' being spread by right wing gobshites on Shitter. Except:
-he’s not a teacher, he’s an assistant
-the school didn’t sack him, he works for an agency
-they stopped using him not for putting up flags but for posting racist bollocks and misinformation online.

Whether it's called news or current affairs, it needs to be rooted in factual information, otherwise it's not just worthless but also damaging.

Nigel Farage falls through the cracks of media scrutiny. He receives the attention of someone powerful, but the scrutiny of someone powerless. It’s a case study in how fear of democratic decline makes institutions submissive which accelerates democratic decline.

That £900k house in Frinton. Has anyone mentioned how it was paid for yet? Any laws broken, or all above board?

Anyone investigating? Media grown a conscience? Any journalist working for the British people? Anyone?

Half way through another week of silence then.

Digital ID

In the EU Regulation (EU) 2024/1183 establishes a digital identity system for the EU & requires provision of an EU Digital Identity Wallet by member states.

Pretty much what the UK's digitial wallet & digital ID does for us - something we will need if we're ever to rejoin the EU.
Regulation (EU) 2024/1183, also known as the European Digital Identity Framework, establishes a digital identity system for EU citizens, residents, and businesses. The core of the regulation is the mandatory provision of an EU Digital Identity Wallet by member states, giving individuals sole control over their digital identity and data. This framework aims to enable secure, seamless, and trusted access to both public and private digital services across borders.
Key aspects of the regulation
EU Digital Identity Wallet: This is the central component of the new framework. Citizens will have a digital wallet that allows them to store and share personal data and documents securely.
User control: The regulation is built on the principle that every individual has the right to control their digital identity, ensuring their data is not controlled by third parties.
Cross-border access: It provides a legal basis for EU member states to recognize each other's electronic identification means and digital identity wallets. This will allow for the seamless and secure use of digital services across the EU, such as online banking, public services, and social benefits.
Trust services: The regulation also updates and expands the legal framework for various trust services, such as electronic signatures, seals, registered delivery services, and website authentication certificates.
New trust services: It introduces new trust services like the electronic attestation of attributes and the electronic archiving of electronic documents.
Implementation timeline: The regulation entered into force on May 20, 2024. Member states are required to provide EU Digital Identity Wallets to their citizens within 24 months of the adoption of the relevant implementing acts, which were adopted on November 28, 2024. Purpose and impact
Simplified access: The framework is designed to simplify and streamline access to digital services for all users, whether they are public or private.
Increased security: It aims to enhance security and confidence in digital interactions, reducing the risk of identity theft and fraud.
Support for the digital economy: By providing a standardized and secure digital identity framework, it aims to foster innovation and competition within the EU's digital economy.
Privacy-preserving: The regulation emphasizes privacy-preserving digital identification, giving users control over which data they share with service providers.

UK media. Ask Labour about the Chinese, don't ask Farage about Russian bribes, or mysterious bankrolling of Leave. If you do minimise it, laugh it off. Repeat the process for Russian money swilling through the Tory party.
The majority of the British media stinks.
It's as bent as a corkscrew.

We are still suffering from it all

The UK must prepare for a 2C rise in global temperatures by 2050, according to new analysis from the Climate Change Committee (CCC), commissioned by the government.
The report forecasts that risks from heatwaves, droughts, and wildfires could double over the next 25 years, with some peak river flows increasing by as much as 40%.
itv.com The Times:

Reform vow to fight 'crazy Miliband over solar farm

Miliband has approved plans for Britain's biggest solar farm, prompting Reform UK to say it would fight to reverse the decision.
The Tillbridge Solar project, in Lin-colnshire, would cover an area equivalent to about 2,000 football pitches.
Farage's party said the scheme would destroy valuable agricultural land, but Labour said it was needed to meet green energy targets and reduce dependency on energy from abroad.
Tillbridge Solar is the tenth large solar project Miliband has approved since taking office. Half of them are in Lin-colnshire, prompting opposition from local Reform and Conservative MPs.
Tillbridge Solar aims to generate electricity for 300,000 homes and the scheme would cover about 1,400 hectares of mainly agricultural land
Michael Shanks, the energy minister, said: "Solar is one of the cheapest and quickest power sources we can build. It is crucial in our mission to make Britain a clean energy superpower, giving us energy security, good jobs and growth across the country."

A report by the Planning Inspectorate said that the project would lead to the loss of about 1,200 hectares of farm-land, including 11l hectares of the highest grade land, and acknowledged the cumulative impact of other solar arrays in Lincolnshire. However, it concluded that this would not be nationally "significant" , with solar taking over less
than 1% of UK farmland.
It added that the biodiversity would benefit from the end of intensive farming on the land and that crop planting
"could be restored should it be needed in the future" for food security.
In a blunt warning to companies behind the schemes, Richard Tice, Reform UK's deputy leader and the MP for nearby Boston & Skegness, said: "We will do all we can to stop investors and developers; nothing is off the table."

This is Adam - a dual UK-Estonia national.

He has been using digital ID in Estonia for almost a quarter of a century.

He tells us about some of the benefits of digital ID.

Great video of someone's personal experiences with it, put out by the government via the DSIT.

Poor Tommy Robinson. What possible reason could the border police have had for stopping a known criminal who is being investigated by HMRC from taking £13,000 in cash abroad while driving a Bentley that wasn’t his and refusing to answer their questions? It’s an outrage!

Quite agree the government needs to close loopholes and find innovative ways of taxing assets and income from companies differently. I noticed that Sunak payed a much smaller tax rate than I am forced to and that cannot be right.

Thatcher made simple mistakes that every poor person understood. Selling the family silver for short term gain destroys the future and pawning the family silver means you have to pay more to get it back with the money lenders being the only winners.
