More issues with the OBR!

Apparently including hypothetical situations in their report which go against everything the government said on the matter...

...and in doing this the OBR has caused concern of school and SEND funding!
I know some of the stories around the OBR and SEND have caused a bit of a stir.

Let me clear things up 👇

Why do people even buy newspapers anymore. They're all owned by, & reflect the bias of politically influenced owners. It's not news, it's propaganda.

Reminder: the £150 reduction is an average and different households will save more than this or less than this depending on energy usage, size etc.

The government explain how they work out the £150 in this news story, as well as some illustrative examples.

What does the Autumn Budget mean for your energy bills?
Billpayers to benefit from an average of £150 off the costs of energy bills.

Households to save £150 a year on energy bills from next April thanks to measures in the budget.

It will happen via:

1) the Energy Company Obligation no longer being added to bills

2) a 75% reduction in the Green Obligation added to bills - with the funding replaced from general taxation.

The pound has risen in relief on news the government won't need to issue as much new debt as some feared.

The Treasury said it would require £4.6BN of extra gilt sales in 2025-26; "this was at the low end of the range," say economists at Lloyds Bank in a post-budget reaction.

Better with Labour 👍

Morning all.
I remain (no pun intended)convinced that the Brexit dividing line still exists.
Govt tries welfare reform & half the country goes into meltdown. Govt boosts welfare & the other half does the same 🤷

Then in Nov 2025, Chancellor Reeves froze them further from Apr 2028 to Apr 2031.

And it is only then when you call it out & call it wrong? Silence for over 4yrs, then complain about a decision on things 2.5yrs away!2/2

Why are people suddenly pearl clutching over income tax thresholds?

Where have you been for the last 4.5yrs?

The freeze has been in place since Apr 2021, when Chancellor Sunak froze them from 2021 to Mar 2026!

Then Chancellor Hunt froze them further in Autumn 2022 to Mar 2028!

Beth Rigby has gone 'u turn' crazy. To the rest of us it's just another budget, something that can never please all & never has 🙄
November 27, 2025 at 5:37 PM
Had this budget gone for welfare cuts, no wealth taxes & no change to 2 child cap the MSM would have had a coronary.
Instead they are now up in arms as it affects the better off & will slow growth.
Makes no difference either way to the press what is actually announced, the condemnation is the same.
November 27, 2025 at 5:35 PM
Budget done then, hardly any of it as bad as the press would have had you believe!
The things within it that most will welcome or have been asking for are now as skimmed as my milk, while the msm have moved on to 'forecasts' for tax rises & borrowing by 2029!
November 27, 2025 at 8:45 AM
So, new govt left to pick up the pieces after long Tory travesty, & their Brexit, for which a majority voted.
So do we immediately start with a costly bus campaign & referendum to rejoin, or just ignore that vote & ask the EU anyway off the back of some polls?
As with everything else, this govt..

To any one still harking on about a generic (but unworkable) wealth tax and the £10-15bn it might raise (it won't btw)...

...while you've done that, in 2 Budgets Labour have found over £65bn of tax rises annually, heavily skewed towards the wealthiest in society.

This is sensible, workable...

What a great Budget.

A great Labour budget.

Here's the first 3 minutes our of brilliant Chancellor's speech, setting the scene!

Couldn't be happier right now with our Chancellor and our Labour government.
November 26, 2025 at 5:22 PM
Well, after so many weeks of speculation, mud slinging & total MSM negativity, in reality this budget was almost a damp squib.
A couple of dodgy bits, there always are, but also some popular moves.
Typically, the latter mostly overlooked by MSM in favour of crystal ball borrowing & tax projections.
November 26, 2025 at 7:24 PM
Sam Coates was so worked up he couldn't sit on his chair properly.
Beth Rigby was focussed on telling Reeves she needs to resign... not sure why tbh, was she?
Sophie Ridge did actually read out the budget announcements, then her colleagues did a graph grandstand on predicted borrowing til 2029 🤔
November 26, 2025 at 7:16 PM
Beth Rigby asks how can Reeves stay in her job.
Quite easily imo. The budget was fair & relevant, affecting the more wealthy without major tax rises.
I'd like to ask Rigby how she thinks she can stay in her own job since her unbiased reporting skills have deteriorated dramatically.

Look at the impact the OBR early release of their Budget report has had on the market.

The morning 'peak' was just before the leak occured. Then a big drop.

The bottom of the trough? 12:35pm - the minute the Chancellor got to her feet and started speaking.

It's risen steadily since then.

You want a summary of the really positive news and excellent measures in the budget?

Then read this summary.

Then tell me this Labour government is in any way bad, chasing Reform, no different to the Tories or won't do what is necessary to help people and the country!
