Throwback to one of the pieces I got to paint for Blood & Doom. I really enjoyed painting the forest itself, probably even more than the characters (which were fun, too ofc)
We see a party of five adventurers: a blond-haired knight in plate armour, a druid in leather and fur, a long-haired barbarian in light clothes, a cleric in a layered outfit, and a ranger in a red hood and tight clothing. The party is in a thick forest with yellow light passing through the canopy. They're using a fallen tree trunk as a bridge to cross over a ravine. The cleric has just fallen from the tree, and the barbarian, whose battle axe is now stuck in the trunk, has grasped his hand just in time. Both the druid and the ranger run to help, while the knight is still trying to hop onto the trunk.

OpenAI is now at $1.8T in commitments to various AI infrastructure providers over the next few years. HSBC updated its model with some generous numbers on projected revenue from subscriptions. enterprise and ads but still sees a shortfall of over $200B by 2030.

And this is the bull case for OpenAI.

i know WHY this is but that just makes it even more of a kick in the pants lmao
screenshot of a tumblr post from user “wildmansters” The thing that really boils my potatoes about Al in general is that I have been a creative professional for over a decade now and the devil has ALWAYS been in the details. Big and small, I've had single-person businesses rip me to shreds over how their colors turned out on newsprint, and have worked with huge companies with THICK brand guidelines with every detail of their brand identity laid out and enforced with an iron fist. But I guess all of that stuff doesn't matter anymore? Who gives a fuck if this Al generated baby has six fingers, that mom-and-pop shop is still going to use it. That rug from Temu says Happy Thanksgivirg? Oh well haha it's just a silly funny thing now (nevermind that you never would have given a B-grade item from a craft show the same consideration). I don't actually care that the Al Coca-cola ad has a truck that changes size every scene, but I can't help but think about how, if it had been some poor underpaid artist, they would have been laughed out of the building. I don't really know how to put it in a succint way but it just feels all the more obvious how much more grace and flexibility has always been possible but never offered.

As an author, I don't make a whole lot of money, but at the same time I need to read a lot of books to stay aware of trends and support my fellow authors. Obviously if I spend all my profits on other people's books, I'm not coming out ahead!

I’m begging novel writers to hire an artist for their covers. At least someone who can do graphic design at a minimum. I see the worst book covers on here everyday and you’re all doing such a disservice to yourself to put in the effort to write a whole book only to turn people away with a bad cover.

Every now and then I see stuff from a TCG I used to do art for (& which I used to play as a kid), and that I ended in pretty bad terms with, and I can't help but think of how misogynistic a lot of their art is (not all, there are some cool people working there), and how players celebrate that. 1/7

you do have to do it in a couple of places but this tutorial makes it easy to go uncheck the boxes that otherwise lets Google's AI read all your shit. or move everything over to protonmail but moving everything over is a giant thing I know.

Google has started automatically opting you in to let it read your stuff to train AI. You need to turn this off in SEVERAL places in your settings (not just for Gmail), if you want to maintain privacy and confidentiality.
