PSA: This is a new account with the same handle as before. I deleted the old one and then regretted it. I am *not* trying to evade blocks on the old account and I am *not* adding people I know had me blocked before.

In Portland, an ambulance was summoned to the ICE office to treat an injured protester (not clear how he was injured). But when the patient was loaded inside, ICE officers refused to let the ambulance leave and threatened to shoot the ambulance driver: www.wweek.com/news/2025/10...
Documents Allege a Federal Agent at Portland ICE Threatened to Shoot an Ambulance Driver
Feds delayed medics who had come to pick up an injured protester. Then, according to confidential incident reports, the agents became aggressive.

Someone left a rack full of inflatable costumes near the ICE building in Portland.

I love this town.

This is a wonderful thread that explains how & why Portland is Like This.

I've put a few new drawings up at
www.tomgauld.com/art-for-sale

There are also badges, prints and a zine at
www.tomgauld.com/shop
A pen and ink drawing.
Panel One:
A woman sits in a chair reading happily in a book-filled room.
 A voice offstage says
"You can't survive on books alone"
The woman replies
"Maybe I can!"

Panel Two:
"How?" asks the voice
"I don't know yet, but I'm sure the answer will be in one of my books." Says the woman

Panel Three:
Caption: However
The book is filled with yet more books.
A skull sits on the chair. It says
"I regret nothing!"

There's still a tendency in academia (and I am no exception to this) to talk about authoritarianism and fascistization as if these are just things we could observe out there, somehow unrelated to and not directly affeciting us, and not forces already at work both within and against our institutions

Ok Team Gang Gang, our favourite red-headed nationally endangered parrot is coming THIRD most days in Guardian Australia's bird of the year poll, behind the tawny frogmouth and Baudin's black cockatoo. But as poll enters its crucial final days there is still time for it to fly into first place..

I’ve been assured that making a playlist compatible with your book is *a thing*, so I’ve put together an official Ephemeral City playlist on the usual platforms. I’ve broken it down story by story with a little explanatory note for each.

An elaborately constructed book in a box filled with stories and ephemera? In this economy? Fear not. @tinyowlworkshop.bsky.social has discounted the boxed edition of Ephemeral City to A$45 (pp) for a limited time. If you’ve been on the fence, now's your chance. www.simongroth.com/shop/ephemer...

"[Bodycam] video shows an agent turn federal vehicle left into Martinez’s vehicle, after which an agent says, 'Do something b----.' The agent then exits the vehicle and shoots at Martinez.

[Her lawyer] Parente said Martinez has 'seven holes' in her from the shooting."

Govt didn't show that video.

But I thought if you smeared someone and they were then the victim of violence, that meant you had to be fired from your job.

Or does Fox News only think that applies to teachers?

BREAKING: In Chicago, Illinois—U.S. citizens protesting ICE were dragged into vans by masked federal agents with no badges and no warrants.

People screamed: “Who are you? Where are you taking them?”

This is authoritarian control in real time.
