This is the part that really cracks me up

I did not even know the reference when he gave it to me and I DO NOT CARE I love it anyway lol
metuiteme.bsky.social
Personally I think he should totally make that second one available to buy somewhere because I feel like everyone could use a fortifying dose of this sentiment 💀

I love having glorious examples of @heymonsterboy.bsky.social's genius on my laptop, they make me smile every time they catch my eye
A sticker featuring a drawing of Nicolas Cage in a movie with a cage over his head and bees all over him, yelling "Not the bees!!!" A sticker with a drawing of the author's brother digging his way out of a grave in front of a headstone that reads "Work" - he says, grimacing, in ragged letters, "capitalism can't have me"

I worked at a poker dealer for 14 years. If anyone ever needs to make sure the poker game in their fiction rings true, feel free to reach out.

I also make sourdough and know how to distill alcohol...

What practical knowledge do you have that would help other writers?

So handy knowing people with v practical expertise when writing fiction

Consulted lately:
* My brother, who knows rats
* My mom, a physio, who can guess at how swordfighting might leave a blacksmith sore
* My husband, ye olde HEMA and martial arts enthusiast, fight choreographer extraordinaire

BUT fortunately there is a happy ending in Chapter 4, in which the Loup dog - who had retreated to the couch all "okay, okay, jeez!" - settled down to enjoy the squeaky llama from chapter 1

Chapter 3, in which - PLOT TWIST - a Loup dog is *also* intrigued by the squeaky dinosaur

Immediately after this picture followed a snotty altercation in which the chaos dog chased Loup away from the squeaky dinosaur
A tan and white heeler mix holds the blue squeaky dinosaur and watches suspiciously while a woolly husky mix snoofs inquiringly at it

Chapter 2, in which the chaos dog was also pleased with the squeaky dinosaur

Everyone forgets that Icarus also flew
Failing and Flying
Jack Gilbert

Everyone forgets that Icarus also flew.
It’s the same when love comes to an end,
or the marriage fails and people say
they knew it was a mistake, that everybody
said it would never work. That she was
old enough to know better. But anything
worth doing is worth doing badly.
Like being there by that summer ocean
on the other side of the island while
love was fading out of her, the stars
burning so extravagantly those nights that
anyone could tell you they would never last.
Every morning she was asleep in my bed
like a visitation, the gentleness in her
like antelope standing in the dawn mist.
Each afternoon I watched her coming back
through the hot stony field after swimming,
the sea light behind her and the huge sky
on the other side of that. Listened to her
while we ate lunch. How can they say
the marriage failed? Like the people who
came back from Provence (when it was Provence)
and said it was pretty but the food was greasy.
I believe Icarus was not failing as he fell,
but just coming to the end of his triumph.

Ea-Nāşir's perfidy seems eternal!
Comic

Panel one. Stick finger singing, "Raindrops on rose/ And whiskers on kittens."

Panel two. Same stick figure holding pot and singing, "Bright copper kettles leave/ ...Flakes on my mittens!?"

Panel three. Same figure still holding pot and singing, "Hey, these are stone with a copper veneer!"

Fourth panel. Same stick figure has put down pot and is singing, "I've been bamboozled by Ea-Nāşir!"

Are there any good resources *from within the autistic community* about parenting children on the spectrum? Asking for someone on the spectrum (me) who's raising two beautiful humans who are also on the spectrum. I'm finding some things challenging lately and would love additional support.
