It's Help Somebody Out Day again, and this time it's entire villages in #Alaska. Who knew typhoons could fuck things up so far north? #TyphoonHalong sure did a number on these communities. Please help out if you can!

Text: "Gearing up and sending out gear to Bethel Friends of Canines ‼️ Thanks to donations from our local PetSmart Stores, we sorted through and pulled together collars and leashes to send to Bethel to help with the influx of dogs from flooded and evacuated villages.🐶👏 We will also be gathering to break down and clean out crates from recent dog transports and donations to send out as well. 🐶🐾 👉 We are on standby to take in several dogs starting Friday and will be in touch with people who have offered to foster as soon as we know what dogs we are getting. 🙏 The first bunch are dogs that were already waiting for fosters and adopters in Bethel to make room for evacuees. 🛶 Many will head to Fairbanks Sunday. 🚐 Next will be 🐕 needing temp fosters until reuniting with their humans 👐 please message if you can foster: and let us know for how long, size and puppy, adult or senior, so we can match need with what you can reasonably handle. 🤗 ♥️ Thank you so much - Quyana for pitching in ♥️"

It’s shades of green and blue and purple, except for the states with no donations, which are gray. the states with no donations are Alaska Mississippi Iowa, Oklahoma South Dakota Wyoming, Montana and Delaware.

Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing? 2? Questions I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up. Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

Western Alaska was hit hard by the recent storms. Houses floated away in Kipnuk, houses flipped over, people lost everything from the flooding that came with the storms. Please donate if you can. This group has a long history of supporting AK communities.

Most in the GOP seem to assume there is a set of well-funded systems & processes on the left because that's how they function. The idea that folks would protest against things that outrage them without being paid to do it is a radical concept to them.
