I wrote about 35 years of Misery. The movie, not the emotion, which is older. www.inverse.com/entertainmen...
35 Years Ago, The Best Stephen King Thriller Ever Kept Things Terrifyingly Simple
There's a reason you shouldn't force sequels. On the 35th anniversary of 'Misery,' we look back on Stephen King's great one-and-done story.

Watching football, which all the commentators agree is like a chess game. But the soccer games this morning… also a chess match. And tonight’s hockey? Well, if you think about it, it’s a lot like chess.

I'm not sure why, exactly, but it's very funny to use the fancy umlaut spelling of reenters in your article about the guy who whipped it out in front of unwilling women
When a cancelled performer reënters the culture, we expect them to offer us a great work, channelling their newfound clarity into the finest art they’ve ever made. With his new comedy show and début novel, has Louis C.K. met the bar?

Louis C.K.’s Next Chapter
In a new standup special, and a début novel, the comedian navigates murky, post-#MeToo terrain: not quite exiled, not quite welcomed back.

It makes absolutely no sense that the stars of this hockey show could be involved in a bitter international rivalry when one of them is from Russia, which has been banned from all international competition for years. I'm assuming that everyone else posting about this show is making the same point.

Not to distract from the larger point here but who are the 1.1 million people still watching the Simpsons
This is innumerate nonsense. An average of 1.1 million people were watching The Simpsons throughout its entire thirty-minute broadcast according to a third-party data company contracted to measure viewership by Disney. Somebody, no way to know who, hit the play button 1.7 million times on Twitter

We’re into day two of “is it bad to steal ebooks” discourse, gotta spice it up by suggesting that the whole problem could be sidestepped if they were put on the blockchain

Thought this was old news, appreciate that it's new to some people but don't let it overshadow "eat McDonald's by the sackful" as though cowering Transylvanian peasants are leaving bags of McDoubles at his door

Great film that's difficult to take seriously now because apparently half the characters would just be CCing everyone they know on their "RE: rE: re: r u going 2 the sinister orgy 2nite???" emails

She should look like this in the Wicked movies
🧵 Before Hollywood turned her green, L. Frank Baum’s Wicked Witch of the West looked very different… & she appears only briefly in the 1900 book. 📚

I didn't ask any scientists to watch monkeys kiss. Cure my disease already, you perverts
Humans are far from the only species locking lips. British scientists say they’ve traced kissing to anywhere from 16 million to 21 million years ago, and have found that it was far more common among other species — including orangutans — than previously understood.
